It's not a noise being created in post production - those sounds are coming from him. But it's also not polyphonic at all - it's multiple takes doing different variations (highs, lows, etc) and then mushing them together

The craziest thing to me is they do all of this live and do it well. I first heard this song on SiriusXM and actually laughed like "Okay the producing is getting of hand here, theres no way they're actually doing all of this, especially the singer." I stand corrected. Will is a master of his instrument. I've seen them a few times now and the whole band's live performance is stunning.

I think Will's voice is doubled in some places in this song, but he does sound like very close to this live. You should check out one of his one-take performances!

“How is he not frying his vocal cords?” Easy, he’s not using them. There definitely is post processing on his vocals, most it is normal studio vocal production stuff, and the part in the beginning where he’s super thin and screechy is obviously high passed. But it’s not a trick, he’s making most of what you hear.

This is everyone's reaction to Will the first time. From there it's just trying to figure out how Smeagol made it out of Lord of the Rings and into Will's throat. Watch the one take of this, then watch the Pain Remains trilogy with the lyrics. Just so you can keep up. The video is a masterpiece on its own and hard to not pay attention to but get the one with the lyrics on the bottom all combined together. It's very worth it.

Shadow of Intent is another worth checking out, Bryce Butler is a really fast drummer. Ben Duerr is also a fire vocalist comparable to will he has a very powerful voice. Recommend their new track Flying the Black Flag.

I am so impressed because he is self taught, doesn't read a note of music, and totally plays by ear! if that wasn't enough, he is making stuff up as he goes!!

Have some fun with the One Take videos of the band, especially Will's vocals and Austin's drums! You'll learn that the major "effects" are a small amount of layers and a clever recording technique!

Thinking the vocals were an instrument with effects on it was not that far off. Their specific intent was for Will's vocals to be one of the instruments, blending in with the distorted guitars.

they put a lot of layers in here on Will's voice, but it's all him, you should really check out his live one take of this, you will really be floored :) i guarantee it And the drummer..... he looks like they forgot to wake him up to play dis stuff, he's really insane ... spoke to him on their last gig over here, he seemed peased with what i told him about how i think of their music :) got pic and album signed of course :) really nice guy ! The bassist takes care of the symphonic parts, and they fit the music perfectly .

as others have said watch the One take of this song, also if you are curious Charismatic voice has a video where they put a camera down WIlls throat, then later they did it again, they also probed is vocal cords, and then took an MRI while he was vocalizing its pretty fascinating.

Please take the time to listen to the whole Pain Remains album. None of the songs miss but a few of my favorites are Into the Earth, Soulless Existence and all 20 minutes of the Pain Remains trilogy. You will not be disappointed!
