This is one of the most objective and honest explanations of what hapkido is that I have come across. Nicely done. 👏👍

Well, I did it for some time and I do not regret it at all. After Judo, and TeakwonDo, Hapkido was my last encounter with MA. All of them have their own ways which I like, Hapkido is by far the most effective in self defence, cause the end result for the agressor is always pretty bad. Dont forget that all those joint locks trained with other Hapkido students are studied in. It will be very very different if you practise those take downs with a person who has no clue what is going to happen! You can very easy without having alot of physical power dislocate joints and even break them. Those demonstrations and trainings are of course not ment to do this. None there less, my first 6 months of Hapkido been constant bruises and pains in muscles. First you train slow, after a very short while you train pretty hard. Your grip turns into a vice, your movements get fast. Same as many other martial arts and you can easily take down and "finish" a person which is much much bigger and stronger. Hapkido, is from my expirience the most effective, cause it always comes with pain (even in training) I mostly liked the influence of using nerve pressure points all over the body, its incredible what you can do with a little bit of strength by using those in combination with joint locks. (you literally only need your thumb and index finger do push pressure points, and that was the logo of my Do) From my point of view I see Hapkido as a pure form of self defense, its not ment to waste even any time with an agressor. The target is to lure the other person into a trap and finish him completly. Quick, effective and no mercy! Nothing like any other MA has to offer. Look again at the demo video and see the joint locks and take downs, Those mostly end up with a striking position which is the last final blast. After that nothing supposed to happen from the other side against the defender. My thanks and high respect for training me going to Grandmaster Seong-Ha Cho. I started now with Jiu-Jitsu and enjoy it too. Maybe one day I will have time and train Judo, Hapkido and JuiJitsu together, picking the very good parts of each and than.... 😁 1.Judo: Incredible good school for falling down, reducing energy force when you get taken down to prevend damage and get into a quick stand up. I really recommend this to everyone, it can save your live (it saved mine cause I had a bunch of motorcycle accidents) Judo Take Downs: Okigoshi, Tayotoshi, Sayonage (excuse if misspelled) those are the basic 3 and quick to learn and very effective. (Judo ground techniques are actually not that good) 2. TeakwonDo Kicks Kicks Kicks !!! Fast and hard. Nothing can beat a brutal kick if you have distance. (but its more for atttacks, not self defense) 3. Hapkido: seee above; its just a must if you want to learn self defense techniques. ( a lot of other self defense MA using parts of Hapkido) There is even kicks you learn, to break a knee joint! (if someone still stands up after 3 seconds in Hapkido you did something wrong) 4. Jiu Jitsu: Im impressed of the submission techniques, its something new. It might be useful in combination of above 2, just to back yourself up when 1 and 2 did not end up in a result you expected.

@@della1731 Yes, will do that ASAP! Right after, we will also notify hapkido schools and governing bodies world wide to abandon all training curriculum and direct their practitioners to tender their hapkido certificates and belts at a designated burn pit. This false sense of security in our training has to stop! Your wisdom and input is much appreciated. Many thanks!

The original filipino master of hapkido is dano inosanto. What you see in korea isnt the authentic hapkido. And its not even called hapkido. Dano inosanto just invented the name and the technique. It drastically became a craze in the 70s for martial artist to learn hapkido (he even was sent to korea to teach the south korean soldiers the art). So basically its a filipino art. And the old master from the 1900s that koreans claim to be the "founder" of the art, was just būllshïttïng Again Brother Dano Inosanto developed the art to teach the koreans🤦🏼♂️

Hapkido is practical but an attacker isn't going to stand there and let you grab him so you have to do this quickly.

The one thing I never liked about hapkido was we never went live. How do you know any of it will work in a real life situation? This is why no mma fighter practices hapkido today and no one who has ever practiced hapkido has ever won a mma title it’s because if someone know martial arts they’ll know how to defend against just about all of the things they do in hapkido. Hapkido is great for using against someone who doesn’t know anything. Facts is facts! 🤷🏾

It’s real. And if you try to resist it (like I did once to see if my teacher was full of it), you nearly get your wrist broken unless you roll with it. In Hapkido you learn to roll out of breaking joints…. 😂

Hapkido, BJJ, JJ, Aikido, Judo, etc. derive from Aikijiutsu. A lot of techniques in such martial arts seem similar to many I've seen in Shaolin Quan.

i's so weird that aikido tries to do the same techniques without effort , flowing wih the opponents energy but in hapkido you just force the techniques trough. Weird that so few injuries happen in hapkido also. It looks and feels so violent. I do them both so I have a bit view into both sides.
@billthompson81827 ай бұрын
There's flow in hapkido. If you're forcing anything, it's bad form. We have a skinny guy in our class. 90 pounds. He tosses guys around by taking a step or simply turning in place. I'd call it fake if I were not one of the tossed... Hapkido uses three main concepts. Circular motion. The Water principle or The River principle and The Unity of Opposites.
