Finally visited a few weeks ago. Not much left but some cool graffiti.

Interesting to know there was a ship named after Roger Brooke Taney. It seems to really go along with his family tree too. I know his grandson, Roger Brooke Taney Anderson was a passenger aboard the RMS Carpathia at the time of the Titanic disaster and when the Carpathia had rescued those who survived the disaster, he gave into helping the crew with the Carpathia’s selfless hospitality preparations, selflessly gave up his cabin and personal belongings for the survivors and led the funeral service for those who lost their lives in the disaster.

I was also stationed there from 1993-1996/7. I had a very hard time leaving. If I could have stayed I would have but of course BRAC closed it so even had I stayed I would have been forced to leave anyway. My unit was ISEC-CONUS. No other assignment compared to it afterward.

I grew up fishing and spending many spring and summer days along this majestic river. Starting at Harbor Safe to the Locks of southern Lancaster all the way down to Havre de Grace. Chasing the seasonal fish and watching the trains go by. Hiking the many trails and stumbling upon homes that have been taken back by nature. To the sweet smells of the native azaleas and rhododendrons. Seeing the bright blue flashes of the blue bunting birds. The forgotten sundews and pitcher plants that lay hidden in the cracks of the rocks along the wet swampy grass lands to the carvings of the indigenous people among the rocks

Looks about the same as of 11/23. The school was still standing the 90's. There were gargoyles hanging of the building. The whole area around has a unique vibe to it. I used to take girls there, and scare them out of their panties.. Wink!

I was stationed there from 1989 - 1992/3. It was beautiful and close to Amish country. I lived on base my first year, then got married. My ex husband and I lived in Hagerstown, MD, then moved to Waynesboro, PA when we had our first child. We were then able to move on base. I was an Administrative specialist there, working at the post office and then worked in the office to help with the base's newsletter. I will never forget this place. It was also around the time of the Persian-Gulf War. I almost was assigned to go, but another soldier went instead. Thank you for sharing this because so much bittersweet memories are there.

I went there over 20 years ago with friends after work around 12:30 at night. Walked half way up the white brick stairs, heard something, turned right and shown my flashlight to see a person standing there next to the steps in the woods by themselves staring at us, turned my flashlight off, said 'who the fuck is that?", Watched the shadowy figure turn around and casually walk away (this person or thing did not say one word to us). All my friends bolted down the steps. We went back up explored for over an hour and found no one. I only saw the legs of the person in jeans, and did not have the guts to shine the light on their face (fearing of what I might see). Still haunts me to this day.

I remember going on this ship with my parents when we lived in Maryland. The USS Constellation, the Natural History Museum, and Baltimore Aquarium were places I went to once as a child and never forgot about them. I especially want to take my husband on the ship since I think he'll like it. I was born in Baltimore Maryland and live there till I was 11 when we moved. And some days I worry for whats going on in Maryland. But it'll always be the place I call home. And as a kid I used to call it beautiful. I hope I can one day again.

There is a beautiful hotel right on the Harbor I booked a suit for Valentines one year , my husband & I went and saw a car show & bridal show. At the time I sold cars & MaryKay & hubs sold houses so the two shows we were able to network a lot. Friday night we saw a show ,Sat car & bridal shows, a band played in the hotel various floors had different music venues. Sunday we saw the aquarium it was great .

I used to walk across this bridge as a teenager. One time a train came along while I was mid track so I moved to the other track. Then another train came from the opposite direction. I huddled down and got as small as I could while the train wheels hurtled by mere feet away. Fortunately, I survived and continued home to Elkridge.
