Hi! What color is the jacket on the video?
@Backpackerscom6 жыл бұрын
Hi there, thanks for watching. I believe the color is now called "Flare", though it may have been called "Cardinal Red" in previous iterations. Arc'teryx cycles its colors, so this exact color may not be available any more. The jacket has been updated though, and is a little bit better!

hey nice video!! what size would you recommend me Daniel, im 6'2 166lbs? thanks for the review
@Backpackerscom6 жыл бұрын
Hi John! Thanks for watching. Fit is always tough, so we recommend trying on some Arc'teryx clothing in general to see what feels right, usually their fit across the line is solid. That said, a Large would probably be about right. Very maybe an XL depending on your build. Good luck!
@VB-36 жыл бұрын
Depends a lot on your build. I'm 5'11, 205lbs, 33" waist an a size large was perfect. However I sized up to XL for a little extra layering space so it would fit over a shell.

I have a Proton LT. How would you compare the Celium LT to the Proton LT?
@Backpackerscom6 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris! Thanks for watching, and good question. The Proton LT is a synthetic insualted softshell, so it breathes well, insulates a medium amount, and sheds light rain and snow. It's best during active pursuits where you are in a cold environment and need both breathability and warmth. The Cerium LT is a down jacket, and a very light, warm one at that. The Cerium LT is not great in super wet weather, and does not breathe very well - ie, we would not wear it while snowshoeing, like we would wear the Proton LT. However, it's lighter than the the Proton (10 oz instead of 14 oz), compresses a LOT more, and is warmer on the whole. Definitely different jackets for different pursuits. The Proton is a fantastic jacket, and more of a jack of all trades. The Cerium LT is a high-end, very light down jacket meant for warming up at camp at night, and cold mornings. Hope this helps!

Do you have personal experience with the Atom LT and/or the Nano Air? I'm trying to decide between the Xenon X, Atom LT, and Nano Air. Any info from someone with personal experience with them would be helpful for comparison.
@Backpackerscom6 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, thanks for watching! We have tested the Atom LT, the Nano Air, and the Xenon X. All in-depth reviews can be found on our website, but the short version: Atom LT is a jack-of-all trades. It is decently warm, breathes well due to the side panels, and has the classic Arc'teryx slim fit that a lot of people like. Build quality is excellent. The Nano-Air is all about breathability. It breathes better than the Atom (and definitely the Xenon), so is perfect if you're a cold-weather hiker, skier, snowboarder, etc. Don't expect it to warm you while stationary though, so it's not ideal for chilly nights around a campfire. The Xenon X is (and I'm biased here) the most comfortable and warm synthetic we've tested for its weight. The material is great, the fit is great, and it has on-point features that combine with solid insulation. An excellent synthetic puffy for around the campfire. In the end all of them are excellent jackets, have solid warranties, and you can't really go wrong. But we recommend basing your decision on activity.

Hi, great video. Can I ask- when you need a shell to cover that down jacket for driving wind and rain what would you recommend? I take it would be a arc teryx brand but which one? Cheers Dan
@Backpackerscom6 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan, thanks for watching! Yes, I use the Arc'teryx Zeta LT (which we reviewed here: bit.ly/2EXhEP2) as my rain shell, and it works really well. The Beta AR from Arc'teryx is also highly regarded. All that said, you don't have to match brands, but when you do the fit is usually spot on for layering. You can see the other rain jackets we recommend here: backpackers.com/outdoor-gear/all/rain-jackets/

Is it good for Xtrem weather ? Like -35 ?
@Backpackerscom6 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching! While this is a warm jacket, it's not the warmest out there. For that cold of temps we'd recommend a warmer jacket and lots of layers. The Arc'teryx Thorium AR or SV are both much warmer, and you may want to consider a true Parka depending on your activity. Hope this helps!

All the European companies use MORE down than the American companies, so Ark doesn't use that much down.....
@jhern1046 жыл бұрын
Arc is canadian
@Backpackerscom6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! As jhern104 says, Arc'teryx is a Canadian company. But, more than that, most of these outdoor companies have different lines of jackets with different amounts of down. The Cerium LT doesn't use a ton of down in the big scheme of things, and is meant for slightly sub-freezing weather, but nothing extremely cold. Arc'teryx does have down jackets that are much warmer, like the Thorium AR, Thorium SV, Ceres SV, and Firebee AR jackets. You can find equally warm jackets among most brands, whether they are European, Canadian, American, or anything else. The best way to check this is to look at the Fill Weight on a jacket, which shows you the weight of actual down in a coat. This is the best measurement of how warm it will be.
