Most beer/lager bottles in Europe have serrated Crown Corks bottle caps. Which are much easier and safer to open with a bottle cap opener.

WAY TOO BIG. No thanks. I have a Climber as my EDC. To be it's all about the weight. Anything bigger than a three layer in Victorinox just seems like too much to carry in my pocket. And if I want something to throw in a pouch, then I would rather have something more like a Leatherman.

The Hide & Drink (H&D) leather belt pouch is perfect for the SwissChamp and it's really cheap on Amzn. I like to carry that and a mini champ, for complimentary coverage, in a zippered leather pouch with two knife/flashlight holding bands H&D also makes in my front pocket. I usually don't need most of the tools on the two champs, but man, when I do need a rare tool it's so much better to have them than not.

You really didn't do your homework on this tool. The scissors may not impress you because they are small, but they cut great, yes they cut paracord if you know how. You want a 4 inch blade on a 3 inch tool? You really need to know what your talking about before you share your opinions. It hasn't even occurred to you the options a quarter inch driver affords you. The gears on the pliers double the force of the grip.

The ranger is another under-appreciated model... it's much smaller and more compact than a champ, but has the saw and the file, as well as all of the back tools that the champ has... Good camping knife. (5 layer design)... (vs 8 on the champ, and 2 of those extra 3 layers are very thick (the pliers and 3d screwdriver layers)) looks like 7 because of the dividers, but I count the fish scaler layer as the 8th layer.

if you like the 2d phillips on the climber, the classic sd screwdriver I believe also does 2d phillips. (don't get me wrong, I like the 91mm models myself cause I like the larger tools)

The best phillips driver Victorinox makes is surprisingly on the Rambler. If you really wanted to, you can carry both the Climber & the Rambler without any noticeable difference. As for a pair of pliers, the 4 inch xs cobra from Knipex comfortably fits inside a pair of jean’s small pocket (the pocket above the right-side pocket).

The Swiss Champ is a fine tool but it's a brick, better suited to a desk drawer than an on person carry. I generally carry an Explorer and a Leatherman Sidekick. Is it more weight than a Champ? Yes. But that weight is distributed between 2 pockets, not one. I decided a long time ago that that trying to find ONE tool that does everything you want is fruitless.

Regarding the hygiene of the toothpick. 2 things. I have a titanium toothpick in a long capsule on a keyring I keep in my coat pocket with many other items on it. I use it quite a lot. I also carry a little spray bottle of 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol that I use for my hands, my glasses, general other things like cleaning glue off of blades and surfaces and I often use it to sanitise my toothpick. I just ordered a Climber and a Compact as I have a brother's birthday coming up and I can't decide which one to keep for myself.

I don’t think any of those are “loser” tools as you call them. It’s a matter of having the correct hand and finger dexterity in using them. Granted yeah if you want to chisel away at something for two hours then you use a normal length, stand alone chisel. But that can be said on any tool that is in the Swiss champ. Point being is that these tools all serve a function and do work but for quick operations.

Idk how many people dislike the hook, but personally, it's my favorite. I used it to take multiple bags of trash down, and once used my belt to bundle a lot of firewood and used the hook to carry it. Also, use it to take the cage cover thing off of an above ground fire pit. My favorite tool by far

You missed the electrical connector crimper on the back of the pliers. Have carried the Swiss Champ in a leather pouch on my belt for years, never had a problem. It's always handy and does not get in the way. Used to work assembling Class A trucks. I was always getting metal splinter in my hands. The tweezers were a life saver.

I carry a Handyman I've modified with Plus scales. I don't find too much difficulty carrying it, but it is hooked to my belt, hanging in my pocket, so it's different from just dropping it in a pocket. When I've tried dropping it in my pocket it has been a bit noticeable.

I'd definitely go with the more expensive clips. I've had a few of the cheap ones and they're straight up made of white metal (vs stainless steel) so they just snap as soon as you try to put them on a thick pocket

I would say that the Swiss Champ has the best "bang for the buck" of the Swiss Army knife series (size, features, cost). It is not "cheap" but still affordable. Victorinox does make a couple of other knives that are close to comparable, so a bit of "research" is always in order but buy the best you can afford. Some show more of a Wenger heritage (particularly in the considerably beefier spring set-up for the scissors and pliers). There are larger (and how!) Swiss Army knives but they are really too big and heavy to be practical AND the price skyrockets (great if you are a collector though... and there exists a true behemoth under the Wenger banner that has to be seen to be believed!). The lesser models may fit your needs but many may lack features you want. Better to have a feature that you might not often use (or at all) rather than lack something critically necessary...like the cork-screw (!!!). This may be apocryphal but I heard that the little screwdriver that fits in the corkscrew was originally intended for adjusting rifle scopes. Seems a bit too tiny, easily droppable and losable for that though. It does, however, do a sterling job in tightening those damnable hinge screws in ones eyeglasses! One thing though. Since these knives are "modular" and generally assembled from a standard kit of parts, Victorinox SHOULD be able to build custom knives (at a premium price, of course). Custom knife pouches would be a problem though. My original Swiss Champ is over 30 years old now, A few years ago I had it refurbished by Victorinox and it looked as good as new. These are knives, primarily, with additional features. If you lean towards the "multitool" idea (folding pliers with additional features), then both Victorinox and Leatherman produce some fine equipment.

Great video man I agree the climber is also my favorite, if you get a little bit older one the scissors layer won't have the parcel hook on the backside and it will just be a beautiful solid chrome back bar instead 🤌 also I recently did my first custom sak and I replaced the blade layer on it with the metal file.
