Must admit, it’s one of the things I find troublesome about online platforms, it used to be available on Apple Music… IF it weren’t for this KZbin video, not sure where I’d find it. Considering music is an important part of culture, ideally, this shouldn’t happen. We can only assume that in a few years, it’ll be even harder to find…. Makes you want to get it on some kind of physical media, just in case… (was it even released that way?)
@lexijono22 күн бұрын
im not sure. but i really want to have it in a physical form!! only because this is such a good song, and it would be a shame to see it go to waste.

This song has always had it right there if you were actually looking for it, but leave it to Fiona Apple in her version to brilliantly find the mid point between the obvious “surface” meaning of this song and the one where the song is the manifesto of someone that just lost their mind!

I still can’t believe that this beautiful cover was basically made to play as background music during a 13-minute-long Chipotle commercial (I swear I’m not lying about this; Google it)

This is one of my all time favorite songs and I am annoyed when artists vandalize and butcher it. There are no shortages of those on KZbin. Having said that; I actually like this. It's a reinterpration but clearly art. I'm familiar with Fiona Apple and her eery creep you out "gets under your skin" style but I honestly feel she did this work a good service. Bravo.

I listened to this (and Madonna's bedtime stories CD) on repeat every morning in highschool and before I ever understood the full scope and nuance of the lyrics it was 'simply' my anti bullying anthem... But now it's like a cathartic commentary on toxic relationships and how the trauma can affect how we react to intimacy and gentleness or rather how we seem to forget how to react.

Thanks gpt4o for the following: "Heðan-biður-afte-care" appears to be a phrase constructed from elements of Old English or a similar Germanic language, but it doesn't directly translate to modern English. However, we can try to break it down: Heðan: An Old English word meaning "hence" or "from here." Biður: Likely a form of the verb "bidan," meaning "to wait" or "to stay." Afte: Could be related to "after" or "following." Care: Means the same in Old English as in modern English, implying worry or concern. So, "heðan-biður-afte-care" could roughly translate to something like "from here, wait after worry," suggesting a context of moving away from a place of worry or concern and waiting until after that concern is resolved. If you have more context or specific details about where you encountered this phrase, it might help refine the translation further! 🌟
