Since that time, I have mainstream back into public high school, graduated as a National Merit finalist and National Honor Society member.

But, I was not aware of the fact that my cognition had been damaged in a specific way.

I knew about long-term memory and I knew about working memory; however, my short-term-memory was what had been affected.

It took me 16 years to find the right set of tools and to acquire the insight of how to put the tools together in order to compensate for my disability and, in reality, I found a way that actually has lessened the effect of my disability. It is almost as if I never had the sequence of events that happened to me in 1987 take place.
