What are the lures of choice?

Casting going to want to stick with Berkley artificial baits like Power Minnow, Gulp Minnow, Grub Tails, and Ripple Shads. If you are jigging deep edge or rock piles don’t be afraid to go slow drift with Chubs, or fatheads. Or jig slowly with Thinfisher or Shiver Minnow.

thanks for this. But what is the 300 V8 XL CMS engine? any feedback on it ? thanks
@ThenextbiteTvShow
@ThenextbiteTvShow Күн бұрын
Verado 300 has an Advanced MidSection (AMS) design while the 300 FourStroke has Conventional MidSection (CMS) Basic CMS is older style mid section and AMS is newer mid section designed for little more control at high speeds. I don’t have any comparison but its the same 2 stroke vs 4 stroke debate. 4 stroke gets better gas and lighter. 2 stroke is proven tough over many years. Here a good read. www.albernipowermarine.com/blog/which-outboard-is-better-mercury-300hp-fourstroke-or-300hp-verado

You just want to feel that bait thump a little. Don’t over work it, short little lifts & pauses. Don’t be afraid to play with your cadence though either like any bait. But there is always a starting point!

I know these where pretty cool. So while they don’t make these anymore. You do have options. Johnson Thin Fisher and the New Berkley Jack. These are both heavy and you could remove hooks and use about the same way. Other option is foil tape over lead like Gary used back in the day.

Does it harm the stickers
@ThenextbiteTvShow
@ThenextbiteTvShow 16 күн бұрын
So trick here is to add water to get down to low level of acid. High concentration of vinegar AKA acid will eat the stickiness of sticker. But you would have to use pure vinager and let it soak on. Old toilet cleaning trick is coat the inside of bowl with TP and mist / spray bottle of high % of vinegar overnight to eat away lime and rust.

Gear ratio 5.1 to 6.4?
@ThenextbiteTvShow
@ThenextbiteTvShow 22 күн бұрын
In this tip gear ratio is not main focus. Main focus is feeling and seeing the rod tip while trolling at 1.8 mph. Then when you cast and retrieving you try to mimic that same rod tip bend and that same feel of pressure, so you can estimate a 1.8 mph retrieve while reeling. 5.1 will be more cranks than 6.4 but don’t worry about that. Focus on the feel on rod tip / pressure and don’t focus on the reel.

Yep. Chase and the rest of the guys can tow their boats 900 miles one way just to fish one NWT tournament. I would be guessing they are putting 20K to 30k+ a year on their trucks towing each year.

MV-ZR-60-BK-LT. This is with Lowrance transducer build in. 60 inches. 3 year warranty , life time shaft warranty, excellent customer services and Power-Pole workmanship. Power-Pole took their time creating these trolling motors. Plenty of hours of R&D went into these. Looking at around $5600 for this model we using in this video. MV-ZR-60-BK-LT. It's an investment but one that should last a long time.

Do you guys ever pike and musky fish anymore?
@ThenextbiteTvShow
@ThenextbiteTvShow Ай бұрын
So back in the day. Pete was our Musky expert. Chase and Korey fish muskies from time to time. Most of the guys focus on walleyes as thats the fish that makes them the money in NWT. We have had a few mix bag shows lately where pike, walleye and even catfish will hit same bait in same area. I know we are not going to be 1/3 muskie and pike show again without Pete. Muskies are hard to film and Pete was real expert in that aspect. Lately we been trying to fix a few more species in the shows, Small mouths, Salmon, Keith even had out come out to Florida gulf for amberjack, Maybe even some panfish this year, I can let everyone know that you are wanted some more pike and muskies.

I just set up the gateway kit in my boat. I followed all the steps, and it works. But i have to kill the power to the xi5 every time i move up the lake to another spot for the autopilot to work? Did i miss something in the setup or does this need to be done every time the trolling motor is stowed and deployed?

Not sure. I would reach out to Motorguide on that question. I think that would be something they would have knowledge about.

I don't see sizing being a huge issue for fish size. I get perch that will hit lures as big as they are. If the fish are hungry they'll attack something big.

What is one of the best bait for walleyes in shallow water with weeds? About six to seven feet of water. About three feet of water above weeds. Have alot of berkley baits. But dive to deep. Thanks, Jim
@ThenextbiteTvShow
@ThenextbiteTvShow 2 ай бұрын
Have you tried Berkley Hit Stick. They float so if you hit weeds just slow down a little or quick rip through them. I like size 9 for the walleyes that I fish for. www.berkley-fishing.com/products/hit-stick You can also troll over the weeds with planner boards night or day time. You can also Texas / weedless rig power grub, ripple shad, power tail and rip through the weeds.

So I personally like to run a sunflower heater and a fan in my unheated garage. Put that fan blowing on motor. All water should run out of intake tubes at access, but could freeze driving back from lake in winter. Thats why I heat with fan during cold months. If your O rings in lower unit are old. Defiantly drain your lower unit grease cuz water could get in on really old motors.

How do you know how much line you need out with the tadpole weight? Idk if the precision trolling app has that setup
@ThenextbiteTvShow
@ThenextbiteTvShow 2 ай бұрын
in the app there is a section for off shore tackle. Inside that section there is tadpole sizes and it will tell you how much line to let out to get your tadpole to that depth. Then you just have to do the math for your lure on top of the tadpole math.

Why does hooking through only one lip drown them?
@ThenextbiteTvShow
@ThenextbiteTvShow 3 ай бұрын
I can reach out to Andy for a sure reasoning. But I think it has to do with chubs like slow current and possible if fishing Chubs too fast and too much water goes over gills, or down into their throat you will kill them. Hooking both lips closes mouth and less water then is going through the gills and right into their throat. Basically your water boarding torturing the minnow.
