Good video. I been using this tool yesterday. But what I find hard work is that I need to change the brush size, keep right clicking all the time is slow going! Is there A short cut like in photoshop using the [ ] to make big or smaller keys to do it at all, please?

Yes - exactly that - same [ and ] keys. 👍

Price is always changing for a perpetual license because of currency fluctuations unless your paying in US dollars. Quite frankly this is irritating as we are not dealing with a US company here. The world should not be revolving around the US. Today in Canada it's $450cdn but last month it was $425cdn. Enjoyed the content as usual.

Hi there, I would like to know if They can fix that issue with AI masking on people (not people masking) 29:27 . If the AI mask doesn't catch something at first, what is ok. I want on my next click on that place that the AI mask didn't see to have my wanted mask. I am frustrated because I have to click 4,5 times in the same place where the AI mask highlights the area that I want. But still not masking. I work a lot with people in sports and that takes too much time on multiple photos with multiple people that should be edited fast. Thnx.

Thanks but what about the noise ???? Please
@ianyorke26179 күн бұрын
C1 have said that improved noise reduction is not something they will be working on for the foreseeable future as other features are being prioritised. I am finding it difficult to interest other photographers in C1 due to the poor noise reduction which simply is regarded as a basic function that should be competitive with LR, DXO-Photolab, ON1 etc., particularly given C1's price point/premier market position. It's difficult to see how many new people will be coming to C1 in the future. It is far easier to retain existing customers than to capture competitors customers.

Hi Paul and everyone who is readinding my comment ! Thank you first Paul for this so brilliant edit and the so nice photos too ! i just have a small question : I have the impression in the last times, and in your last edit sessions , you intentionally show us that using the ai masks has some limits: maks too quickly done , and sometives even those masks are great , they can't ( not yet) do everything.!! So you show us, with the good " old school", with hand drawing, and so on( with the older tools, magic brush, lumarange masks) that we can still do a lot of things without the AI. i would thank you to remember us , and by the way , whats happening here is a bit, a symbol of the whole humanity : not to give up everything in one clik for the AI. I have the impression (and i include me in this), that if we don't be careful ( like you use to often say🤗,) we are getting more and more lazy , putting the destiny of our lifes in the hands of AI , but fortunately some persons are here, to avoid that like Paul Reiffer 🤗🤗🤗👍👍👍👍( much more than an editing artist !!)

To add to my remarks regarding sending in monochrome files: I’ve been shooting Leica M Monochrom camera’s for little more than three years now, and never had a file that I thought was of any interest as an example for a live session. Not to needlessly downplay my photography, but with Monochrom files life just becomes less complicated. You can forget about all color related tools, no white balance, no saturation sliders to worry about, linear response as default, etc. So basic workflow is pretty straightforward and most decisions I make about edits are more artistically related than technical. So, when it comes to sending in a file it won’t be a matter of technical problems I ran into but more of matter of: what would you make of this, artistically speaking? I just upgraded to the M11 Monochrom so maybe I will be sending in one of those 60+ Megapixel files to play with. Now find one that would make a good candidate… Thanks again Paul Paula Dieterman

Dear Paul, Unfortunately, with the new day and time, it is no longer possible for me to attend the sessions in person. So I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the great work you have done this year in showing us how to properly use all the many features of CaptureOne! If I could ask for one thing for Christmas, it would be a video on the best order in which to use all the different tools in an image editing session. I don't know if this would be appropriate for a live editing session or a master class. Either way, I would definitely be willing to pay for it. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, I'm already looking forward to the new input in 2025!

Hi Andreas - a little confused as we've been on Tuesdays at 3 for pretty much most of this year? That said, glad you've found them helpful, and they'll always be available to watch on catch-up after the live session, so you won't miss anything, don't worry! 👍 For an "order" - the reason you won't (and shouldn't) find anyone who knows Capture One well offering that is because it all depends on the image, and what you need to do. There isn't an "order", as such, and when people work to a prescribed checklist, they tend to screw things up (doing things that aren't necessary in that particular situation, and/or doing things in the "right order" but with the wrong tools for the image.)
@andreasleeseАй бұрын
Hi Paul, No it's me being confused. I thought the last sessions had been one our later and/or on another day of the week? But I could very much be wrong 😅 So you say there is no general order in which you use at least some of the tools? I'm not speaking of the detailed stuff like masking, but of the more general tools like keystone, cropping, exposure, hdr, levels and curves. It would be interesting to see how you organise your workspace and in which order you have placed the different tools. I know you have a lot of saved workspaces, so I wonder if they are for different types of images or for other purposes. I think I remember seeing a session you did with David Grover a while ago in which you said that some tools work globally and should therefore be used first. It might as well have been a session about black and white conversion, if that will make a difference?

I upgraded my camera from an A7r2 to a7R5 and lightroom classic desktop 2021 would not support its new raw files. So, I switched to Capture One because it has always kept up with Sony's new RAW files. I think I've been using Lr for about 10 years. Now I have some serious learning curve and why I have enjoyed watching your tutorials and sessions. They've been very helpful in getting up to speed-- thanks! In Lr my import settings intentionally flatten the image like those S-log videos. I then adjust contrast as needed, sometimes using Zero Contrast to find the center of the histogram. In C1 the Linear Response option in Base Characteristics is my preference. In a lot of your editing sessions, you "resort" to Linear Response for the diametric reasons of both taming high dynamic range AND soft, misty low DR. It's almost for anytime you're alone or with someone. ;) Some of your editing sessions urge adjusting the base image settings so they are prepared for Style application. Another one said to save basics until the end. Which workflow is the best practice?

the steam colour in the reflection shouldn't be different from the steam. the blue steam looks unnatural because of the different colours in the reflection. the original looks way better. for me, it hardly needs any retouching.

As a very long time Adobe addict, I have been thoroughly enjoying using Capture One. If fact, I was on the fence about really trying Capture One, but these "live editing streams" by Paul was THE reason I switched. I have not completely divorced myself from Adobe since Capture One hasn't improved some of the basic editing features like noise reduction. However, other 3rd party products can fill in to "finish" a photo so I can live with some of Capture One's deficiencies. I will say from trying many other RAW editors, Capture One's initial processing renders colors better, at least for my Nikon RAW files. Anywho, cheers for Paul in conducting these sessions! And yea, thanks for mentioning the streaming software; I'll pass on it!

Hi Paul: Thank you so much for walking me through the issues that I have caused during my editing process. I am relatively new to C1 coming over from Lr & PS. Within PS, I used Zone Masks extensively I think that is why I have been over-using the Luma Range tool when refining my masks. I will certainly be working on re-editing my image based on your feedback and my improved level of understanding. Keep well . . . Keith

I really enjoy these sessions and appreciate you continuing to do them but still nothing new for the hobbyist, amateur, landscape and nature photographer in Capture One. Amateur Photographer had an interesting article on Adobe's "Skip the Photo Shoot" advertising where they (Adobe) are pushing the fact that AI will be doing that part for you. In their mind professional photographers will, in the future, just "assemble" AI generated subjects in Photoshop to form a photograph. For amateur and hobbyist photographers the shoot, then coming back and developing their vision with the help of AI is part of the experience and why they are out there in the first place. If, indeed, the professional is to be relegated to an AI assembler then Capture One's dismissal of the amateur and hobbyist photographer is all the more baffling.

I was constantly asking for native .afphoto file format support from 2016 to 2022 and was each year many times (asking for it each minor and major upgrade) fobbed off by “We will forward it to the developers.”, nothing ever happened. The plan was to ditch my Adobe subscription, using the paid version of C1 as DAM and raw developer together with Affinity Photo as editing tool. Serif itself unfortunately doesn’t have a DAM nor a proper raw developer. Because I had to stick with the Adobe subscription anyway because C1 never supported .afphoto files natively, I ditched C1 instead of Adobe. And no-no-no, .TIFF is by far no replacement of .afphoto. Using .tiff with Affinity Photo, you lose all advantages coming with .afphoto. Such as saving changes on compressed 10 GB files takes only seconds or 18 Petabyte max. file size. Using .psb the same thing takes 10 minutes or so, even on a fast M3 Mac using Apple’s fast internal SSDs. Compressed .tiff takes also an eternity to save and is limited to 4 GB max file size. For obvious reasons, I can’t use C1 for my Hasselblad .3fr files.

Hello Paul, Is there a way to export folders with photos into a catalog, with the folder structure included in the new catalog? If I export parts of the catalog, it creates new folders with numbers like 1, 2, 3, etc. That's not really useful if you want to import this catalog into a main catalog. THANKS!

Hello Paul and everyone who reads my comment ! Thanks Paul for that great session like every other session from you🤗👍 This time i appreciated a lot the first photo ( i think it was one from the BMW House in München) i have at home, almost the same one. It was absolutely interesting to see the different ways to bring back the blue colour between the two parts of the BMW tower ! but i confess that the blue colour didn't really disturb me , because it-s a bit like that in the reallity! . But the demonstration with the luma curve and the rest was highly interesting. The picture with the mask on the top of the mountains was interesting too, because i had allreay this problem with refining mask ! good ,to say that sometimes old fashioned work with the mask painted with the hand is keeping his utility 👍👍👍.
