H441 is update to monitor battery health . If after a month and couple of charges it still is not limited to 75% then good. H441 can trigger H448 to replace battery by warranty. What is VIN number for this car?

@otofoto4 күн бұрын
@ You are electrician or not? Figure out how to achieve that and we would have great video. 👍 Electric car companies are dismissing solar panels as they would not help to charge traction battery which is true but they oversight that trickle charging 12V battery is a must as lead acid likes to be full charge not half discharged. Of course overcharging AGM is not good either so a safe voltage is needed.
@evilelectrician89033 күн бұрын
@otofoto for having the onboard 12 Volt sockets on the permanent 12 Volt connection you have to take out the fusebox and change the connections. Not easy and not adviseable for amateurs. And the Video would be very long. But i will think about it.
@otofoto2 күн бұрын
@@evilelectrician8903 Just for fun. I still looking for I-Pace to buy and seems the issue is similar with all electric cars that they do not trickle charge the battery so solar panel would be a must. Nissan Leaf tried but failed as it was too small. I understand the need for 12V backup battery in case main battery fails or needs to be disconnected but the engineers took a lazy path by not waking main battery to charge backup. Maybe could find some shortcut to add power to some internal light which is positive connected or maybe even connect solar panel to power antenna and feed this way :)
@evilelectrician89032 күн бұрын
@otofoto you can connect a solarpanel directly to the 12 Volt battery too. Usually the 12 Volt battery gets charged when the car is charging and the regen breaking will charge the 12 Volt battery too. Of course, if you want to play it save you can connect a solar panel.

Great feedback on a long term drive. I've only had mine for 3 months and whilst it is a brand new vehicle as you correctly mentioned this car has been on the market for a few years and there is newer technology on the market now. However, to me this is like driving a spaceship compared to my 24yr old VW Golf 1.8T GTI that I had from new. The VW never once let me down and was great fun with the ECU and exhaust upgraded. The Jaguar is also as you said, a great drivers car. So far I am loving the switch to an EV and of course more power, comfort, space and technology......no cassette player in this new car 😂😅

Umso besser.

Thanks for your update. Because of your videos, it helped me to buy one which I have no regret so far. (Especially because I was able to fix certain things because it was so under warranty.) Would you recommend getting after market warranty?
@evilelectrician89035 ай бұрын
That´s hard to say. It just depends on the price. After the leasing contact was over i kept my Jag but i had to pay 1000 € for a "must have" one year warranty. I wouldn´t have payed that amount of money if i didn´t have to. The weakest link of a EV is the 12 Volt battery. Some say they have lost the 12 Volt battery power while driving their I Pace and there was a warning in the display. Some tryed to to keep driving and lost their breakes because of the break by wire system. I don´t know if that´s true but it sounds plausible. On the other side i never had problems with my battery because i use the regen breaking and i keep the car running.

The overdrive on a petrol engine gives you more efficiency because the lower rpm of the engine means more air and fuel is injected for each rev. This raises the pressure ratio in the engine and it’s that which raises efficiency. The electric motor has no comparable efficiency effect / benefit of an overdrive. I like your simple videos.
@evilelectrician89038 ай бұрын
The faster a electric motor runs, the more energy it needs. An overdrive could save a few miles at least.

Could one plug a 12v battery or small solar panel through the old fashioned cigarette lighter sockets to resuscitate or augment a weak battery? My I-pace was built for North America and has several of those sockets.
@evilelectrician8903 Жыл бұрын
The sockets are only working when the ignition is on. If you are fit with car electrics you can modify the fusebox to keep power on the sockets on when the car is off. Then a small solar panel will work an charge the 12 Volt battery.

Recently the H441 campaign for the deviation current detection was launched. After the update the sw detects any voltage deviation and will keep the car from charging above 70%.
