Some beautiful houses on that stretch, Tom😊. Imagine opening your back gate right on to the beach! Was that martello tower extended and made into a home? 😍
@thereluctantoutdoorsman9 сағат бұрын
Hi Sheila nice huh! The tower is Grouville Bay No. 4 tower, bought by a Dr. Falla for £160 in 1905! It appears Dr. Falla developed the tower as a family home with extensions either side of it. It would be cool to see the inside of it, wouldn't it? 😮

Hi Tom and Paddy, thanks for another great video. Congratulations on getting your bus pass, both the buses and their drivers in Jersey are brilliant, I love using them. This year I renewed my visitors Avanchi card which I am informed is valid for 15 years, probably longer than me😂. Just think of the money you will save on petrol!! Although I know absolutely nothing about golf, it is lovely to see the course and its stunning location. Looking forward to the coming videos and to being in Jersey again in 10 days time. Have a great week, looks like Summer may have finally come!!

Hi Valerie, I didn't know they did an Avanchi card valid for so long! I don't know what it cost you but it seems like a great idea! I was a bit of a bus snob.....but no more......I'm converted! So you're back again and the weather is looking better......should be good! 🌞🌞🌞

I paid £25.00 for a weeks unlimited travel, which I made good use of!! I go to the bus station when I arrive and top up my card for however many days I want. It works out much cheaper (depending how much you use it), and saves needing change for the bus or having to use your debit card. If your senior pass works like the mainland they will automatically renew it after 5 years.

@thereluctantoutdoorsman13 сағат бұрын
Hi Benny, it is brutal, but better than it was two or three weeks ago, as it has been drying out and burning off a bit! Before it was so thick, lush and green that even if you had a good line on your ball you were unlikely to find it........even when just a few feet off the fairway! 😞🤬😡
@nicted930817 сағат бұрын
When you reached the bench with the two posts, that walkway to the beach was only forty seconds from our house when we lived in Grouville. I remember the house with the overgrown garden was in a state of decline all those years ago and the land must be worth a fortune. I remember being in a lift with Tommy Horton at Gatwick airport and he had a driver and two woods with him and told me he was playing in a ProAm at Wentworth and what a nice man he seemed to be. Thanks for a lovely walk and more memories. I forgot to say on part one well played with a 74 good golf in anyone’s book.
@thereluctantoutdoorsman17 сағат бұрын
Hi Nic, Wow, so close to your old place huh and great to hear the story about Tommy Horton? I once played against Tommy and the captain with a mate of mine in a captain and pro match. He was a lovely guy and we actually gave them a five or six footer for a half on the last, to half the match! It was a privilege to play with him! The 74 was a net 74.......Gross 89 I'm afraid! The conditions were dreadful with heavy wind and rain! 😁
@nicted930811 сағат бұрын
You and your partner were generous to give a five footer and you must have played well for them to half the match. That’s the great thing about golf a gentleman’s game, most of the time.

Hi Brian, thank you so much for your comments. The golf club is actually built on common land and the public have access, but if you do walk on it stick to the paths and be very careful, as it is a fairly small layout with many hidden tees and flying golf balls - so it is dangerous for those who don't know their way around and from which direction the balls will be coming! 🏌🏻⛳

@thereluctantoutdoorsman20 сағат бұрын
Hi Sheila.......they like to leave the rough to get thick for an annual scratch competition they have in June, but were reluctant to admit this. They stated cutting it back early would cause it to be thicker next year and also cited issues with machinery after a fire destroyed a lot a year ago! We are lucky though.......there are some amazing views on the course! 👍🏻

I really do think that your committee needs to have a talk with the green keepers about the rough. I would think a good majority of the members do not hit the ball that straight on tight fairways and for me this would spoil the enjoyment. When I come over next year if it’s that bad I’ll leave the Pro V 1s at home and not give them to the course. I’ve been to the drive inn a couple of times in the past and remember it was good value for money in its day. What a good idea to take the bus rather than walk back now that you have the bus Pass good thinking Tom. Tell me a dog that doesn’t like the beech.
@thereluctantoutdoorsmanКүн бұрын
Hi Nic, yes it has not been any fun for months now although the rough has started to dry out over the past couple of weeks, making it at least a bit easier to find balls! Having said that, I played in a competition the Saturday before last, in very windy competitions......shot a net 75 and unbelievably came fourth! I think net 72 won it! I have never before in my 50 years as a member seen an over par score win a competition! I'm actually loving the bus! 😁 I hope you and your better half are well and enjoying the good life! 👍🏻
@nicted9308Күн бұрын
That’s amazing Tom, as you would think In really bad conditions that over par would be good enough to win. All the best to you and the family and keep finding those golf balls as they are not cheap depending on what you use.

Won’t local bees get trapped in there as well Tom, or is it only designed to catch hornets. You are doing your upmost to recruit more subscribers Tom 10 out of 10 for effort. When I was walking the cliff paths and the country lanes I meet lots of lovely people who wanted to stop and talk as most people in Jersey are so friendly. My very good friend who pasted away two week ago, his wife was wanted me to sell his golf clubs. She said that she didn’t want to look at them tucked away in the corner of the bedroom. Over the past week I’ve sold them all, selling the last of them today at a golf stall at the coast and a very well stocked golf stall. He gave me a good price for the remaining clubs. Made 1000 euros in all as the equipment was only four years old all Callaway Mavrik good quality and I bought the driver and five wood something to remember him when I pull out the driver as I needed a new driver and we’ll all miss him.🏌🏻♂️ Cheers to you both.

Hi Nic, good question about the hornet trap and the answer is.........I don't know! The only thing I can offer is that I think the trap is designed to keep them alive.........I have seen on the TV people then attaching something like a ribbon to captured hornets and then letting them go! They then follow the hornet back to the nest as the ribbon is visible! Well done with the golf clubs, hopefully the new owners will enjoy them as much as your dear friend. Also, I'm sure that you will be driving straighter than ever now! 💟

There was a bad storm a couple of days ago in Mallorca, and all down the east coast to Almeria with some serious flooding so a problem with our internet provider. All is good now and really enjoyed the walk back to Archirrondel and enjoyed your brief chat to the Chinese girls and the other ladies and a new subscriber. We have a member of my golf society with the same surname and he’s from Guernsey. 29:08 All the houses are very nice with a big price tag but personally I wouldn’t like to live right on the roadside with the traffic noise. We lived on a busy road in Grouville for five years and you do get used to it after awhile but it wouldn’t be our choice to do so again. 35 years ago when the Island was manic with probably to many tourists it was a nightmare in the summer months just call me Mr picky. I can still remember the old Les Aches the way it looked and more great memories, Tom I don’t know where the years have gone. Cheers look forward to the next one.

How brilliant John......I had heard that at one point females massively outnumbered males in Nottingham! It must have been terrible for you..........really hard to find someone to play football with! 😁😁😁😁

Always enjoy your walks videos Tom with your accomplice Paddy G. Jersey certainly looks a lot different now to when you were showing us the ravages of those destructive winds and excessive wet weather.

I think if I was a multi millionaire Tom I would have difficulty choosing a house, as they are all stunning! Great walk back and the Chinese ladies certainly understood you😊. Have you ever thought about getting business cards made Tom with your KZbin logo? You could pin one in the Liberty bus station, ferry terminal, in cafes etc and also hand them to the people you speak to along the way. I follow another KZbinr who does this quite successfully👍
