Seems on the previous Gen 1290s are pretty good since the main thing you have to look out for is the battery. They New generation 1290s have added engine issues on a few of them. But still not enough to keep me from buying a 1290 SAS. 2 years seems the limit those batteries last. Thanks for this update video.

Fingers crossed! I might take the go pro on the ride and to do a bit videoing at the museum, always interesting to see what Australia has in the line of automotive and to see how it was all influenced by the UK. I also received the Goldwing Tyres today., that will be interesting as I have never done much work on the Goldwing.

Another top video Dan! They tyres look the dugs baws. Re a new camera, I highly recommend the DJI Action camera. I have the DJI Action 4 and the Action 5 is now out. Unlike the GoPro, the action 4 doesn’t crash and overheat as bad as the GoPro plus it’s a far superior camera in my opinion
@biker_dan3 күн бұрын
Thanks Sean, I will look into that. I noticed there is a nice Sony out there that V-Loggers use, bit pricey though and I don't know much about it.. Don't want to go overboard on cameras but something decent for videoing at home would be nice, and keep the go pros for out riding etc.

@@biker_dan the DJI is a great camera Dan and will work seamlessly with your mics. The action 4 will now be cheaper seeing as the action 5 is now out. Most of my videos last year were shot with the action 4 and I’m very impressed with it

Yes, that's the one, it's good to see how to get into these new bikes. I have a previous video of doing the air filter, I thoink the newer bike is easier as it has a flap you open, whereas the old one is full tank removal.

Hi Dan, Happy New Year. Great vid - you can blank off the coolant to carby system. Bolts and a copper washer at either end will sort it. They are prone to leaking, the clear bulb gets brittle with age and will break and you lose all the coolant and overheat. They had the same system on the klr650. I think the rationale was to heat the fuel and improve running and emission. It does nothing
@biker_dan8 күн бұрын
Thanks for that, I did wonder if that hose was needed, and yes the bulb does look brittle to me also, so I will take your advice and delete it. The temp here is around 30c this week, don't think the carb needs heating lol.,. Thanks for the info, so much appreciated.

Dan, when you do your tires mate change the valve stems on the rims as I got a flat front tire on my Goldwing last week. Turned out the rubber perished around the valve. Replaced tire and valve stem and fitted on bike this morning. Something we don't think about when putting new tires on. Cheers from over the boarder SA.
@biker_dan11 күн бұрын
Thanks John, Yes I will replace the stems with new ones and new valves too as they don't cost much. I'm thinking of getting a TPMS monitor too, the one with the valve caps that connect to the monitor, that way if it starts going soft, I will know right away. My KTM1290 has it as standard and the pressure is always the first thing look at when going anywhere on her. Cheers

I’m a full time carer for my wife and I don’t get much down time but getting into the shed and have something to think about which is exercising for the brain is a therapy. Mindfulness Mechanic sounds good to me. just a thought... they use M.E.K (methyl ethyl ketone)to glue lego together. lego is made of abs plastic, the same plastic as all motorcycle fairings. its liquefies abs plastic and when you put the two edges together the liquified abs plastic edges mix and when the MEK evaporates the plastic is solid again.

My wife bought a heavy duty thread that's normally used for leather, always best to use quality, She also folded the overlap end over the stitches part and did another stitch over that, so it looked like double stitches. Hope this helps

Hi Dan, another good video. With the amount of Jap bikes you do, it would pay to get yourself a set of JIS screwdrivers to prevent damaging the fastener heads - or replace the JIS fasteners with Pozi drive (or even torx head). Also, for the carbs - a set of jet cleaners, or even welder nozzle cleaners (all cheap to buy). Oh, and stop calling them carbys!!!!! Brilliant stuff.
@biker_dan24 күн бұрын
Yes Im going to order a set of these jap screwdrivers, that's next on the list. That carb I was working on is buggered, I couldn't get the idle jets out, seems all ceased up. I have ordered a new set of carbs with jets, only $140 which is about 80 quid. With being in Australia, we are close to Japan, so parts are quite cheap. But I will get the old ones out again and strip them properly and have a good look at them. Oh, and like the other Kawasaki, it too needs clutch basket bushes done..

I picked up a ZX-20 after watching some KZbin video (supposedly) showing ZX-20 footage. (from Zero themself) Mine had no stabilization, the colors were washed out, 4K looked like upscaled 2.7, images looked like they were shot through a plastic lens. It only lasted a week before I took it back for a refund. If I'm going to pay $299 for an ZX-40, I'll wait until I have an extra $100 and get a GoPro, there is no comparison.

I’m contemplating buying a 2012 JKU with the 2.8 crd…I’ve been hearing bad things about the reliability of this engine. Is it as bad as what they say?
@biker_danАй бұрын
I think people that have the problems with the CRD engines are usually the ones who dont change the engine oil enough, I along with some mates all have the CRD and we never let them go about 10000K without an oil change, or 1 year which ever comes first. A diesel oil gets filthy and needs to be changed very regularly and some just dont do it. I am well over 100000K now and never had an issue. Hope this helps.

The learning curve never stops mate, even I'm still learning as I go. @biker_danАй бұрын
Great idea, I think they should do fine, best way to know is the movement test of the basket, if it starts to move again then back to the drawing board, although that stuff is very long lasting and is a great replacement for rubber bushes.
@asfia82Ай бұрын
question:how many years can the resin hold with the hot and cold with oil in the engine?
@biker_danАй бұрын
Longer than the rubbers did, this stuff is the same that makes car bushes, so it should last longer than rubber, it is also heat, oil and water resistant, so I hope it will last many years.
