Okay so we're supposed to be looking for the lawless one. How will we know him if the law has been done away with.

Thank you for the comment. There's a lot packed into that statement and question. First off, there is one place and One Place only where the law is done away, and that is IN Christ. And here's the thing, Jesus actually magnified the law in His teaching. He did not minimize it. For example... "You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." He takes the requirements of the law and applies it to our thoughts. And He is serious! He is killing us, so that He can raise us again in newness of life: His life! This is bad news for unbelieving Israel, because it means they are still subject to the terms of the Mosaic Covenant with all of its curses if the law is not kept (and there is only One who can keep it, but they have not yet accepted that One). So here is God's plan to move Israel from unbelief to belief: the lawless one. "I am come in my Father's name, and you receive Me not: if another shall come in his own name, him you will receive." - John 5:43 And the (evil) king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all. - Daniel 11:36-38 Check out Daniel 11:21-45. There is an amazing amount of detail about this lawless one. There are other verses in Daniel Chapters 7, 8, 9 that talk about this person. If you have the Life of Christ IN you, He will help you understand these things. Psalm 119 is all about the law of the Spirit of Christ in you, which is our hope of glory.
