Hello, may I have a question, I have damaged the abs on a 2009 Toyota Camry hybrid, can it be repaired, or what part of the unit is being replaced, what car is it suitable for too?
@vallynsworldАй бұрын
I don’t know how to repair the ABS, I bought a new ones from the dealership and replaced it myself. However, u can call the junk yard and buy used one. It will saves you a lot of money,
@alex24110 күн бұрын
I would do my homework before buying anything as complex as a Toyota Hybrid brake actuator from a junkyard. I needed to replace mine on a 2006 Highlander...those were problematic and the warranty was extended by Toyota. If you buy a used one, you'd likely be getting one of the older, "defective" units. New ones are expensive, but I would have hated to had installed a used one to save a few hundred bucks only to have it fail...I went with a new one...

Did having this problem by any chance cause one of your fuses to get burnt everytime the car started?
@vallynsworld3 ай бұрын
No, I don’t think that’s MAF sensor related. fuses burnt more likely causes by sorted wire. Example, electrical wires exposes from frayed electrical and touches the body of your car can cause a short, it might cause the fuses to burn out, or resistor going bad than cause a surge in voltage that could cause the fuses to overload…I’m not a electrical expert, i think u should take the car to a professional that is specialize in electrical repair. U need mechanics that are good with diagnostic and electrical, they have to test electrical system using wiring diagram to see if it’s the ABS module has problem, relays, fuses, the PCM or the wire between them has problem before replacing parts. The thing that u can do for yourself is check for blown fuse first (ABS). Look in your user manual for the fuse diagram

2003 ford focus here.. the ABS and brake dash lights both came on at one point and have been on for quite a while..codes are the dreaded B1342 and C1267... supposedly the module itself is bad...I have looked high and low trying to get Clear definitive feedback and info as to whether the module on these can be swapped with a used but identical yr and part number match...some people have said it needs to be recoded while others stated they were able to swap the module part with no recoding at all.. perhaps its dependent on whether you have a newer ford verses an old one..or whether the part was a general match or an exact part # match.. whatever the case , I ordered on ebay as exact a match as I could get, same yr same part # as well... I intend to swap the module Only, not the pump part since the codes indicated module failure...I will repost back here for others to let you know if it was possible without a recode...Ive heard you Can reprogram these with the Forscan software and a laptop...Im prepared to try that if needed or if I have to, get one of those Autel machines to get it done...antilocks are Very important for safety! we have been using the car without the function but Man! all seems normal till you need to do a panic stop, then you skid with no antilocks! makes you appreciate how they are always there to save you from a skid and help you stop in Much shorter,controlled manner.

It didn’t work well the first and second try until I watch one guy do the programming and ask to borrow the machine and do it myself and it worked! Took 2 hours to get in to the actuator and 2 hours to get out. There were two choke point spots were it took 45 min which was lining up the brake lines just right to screw them back in and the orange inverter connector took 30 minutes to remove. Tip: Use a Crows Foot 10 mm flare nut adapter to attach to torque wrench so you don't over torque brake lines on actuator.

I changed out the actuator at 210,000 and I’m preventing any future actuator contamination and leak by changing the brake fluid every year to prevent water & old brake fluid plastic tubes from contaminating and making it leak ever again! I think the leak happened because I never changed the brake fluid even once since new.

There’s also an abs bleeding procedure that should be done anytime the hydraulic pump is opened on the system. The system has to be bled manually and electronically with the scanner along with the module reprogramming. Looks like you got it fixed but the first shop should’ve known that. Might’ve saved you a lot of time.

You can bleed Prius 2nd gen brakes by: -Keeping the car off -Having a friend depress the brake pedal or using a pedal depresser on the brake pedal -Loosening whichever brake’s bleeder screw you’re working on (with a tube connected to it that feeds into a reservoir all the way to the bottom with brake fluid at the bottom) The Prius will start pumping pressure into that brake as long as the bleeder is open and bleed the system for you. This method works for all four wheels and can be used to flush the entire brake fluid system!

I think the brake actuator is more expensive than brake pads. I’ve have this hybrid car for over 10 years, the two most expensive components that I’ve replaced was the hybrid battery and ABS (but I did it myself and only paid for parts not labor). Other than that this car is solidly reliable and got 40-45mpg. It’s a great vehicle and save gas.
