Because the white women/her friends and peers who she grew up with, coming from a wealthy, PRIVELEGED background; are entirely different to the white women I grew up with. She seems to be projecting her experiences of being in a white community. Being a wealthy Indian woman amongst wealthy white women. Indians being more institutionally racist against black people than white women, maybe she thinks we should take on that guilt and shame too. I'm not taking on anyone else's guilt or shame - and it's black women who taught me that! They hold their heads high, and so will I. Saira Rao - I would never have been accepted or fit in with your wealthy, white community growing up. And you would not have survived mine. Socio-economic class is what divides us. And intersectional feminism is for wealthy women. You're trying to educate white women - educate yourself! You assume the Only White women community is the one that You came from. I live in a small country and our neighbouring islands (one of which my family are from) are full of white communities that were enslaved and who are still now experiencing the repercussions of generational abuse on every level. Who's guilt and shame am I taking on? Not yours, Saira Rao.
