I love the mamas look in the end when the baby is being weighed. She’s just eyeing the scales number like “this baby is how heavy?!” I’m really happy the bonding process went so smoothly.

I remember seeing a video where the mom had passed away and a sweet gelding took to the baby and even chomped at the other horses to stay away. He was a very loving mom 😂❤

I thought you had to smear the mate’s poop and urine on a foal to trick the mare into thinking the orphan is its biological foal? Glad it worked out though for the little chap.

Genuine question, How does the mare produce milk if she didn’t get pregnant? Do they just mentally make themselves produce milk?

The Bondi Australia Vet, Chris, drenched an orphan foal in the foster mother's urine to help with the bonding.

My neighbor said to put antiperspirant in the nose of the mare and put the foal on her and let it drink from her and then when it pooped she will smell like her baby. And I'm not sure about that what's your idea of that. 😮

The grafting process is such a beautiful thing when it goes well. And the fact that there can be a form of grafting between separate species. I've seen videos of dogs who will act as nannies to abandoned lambs or other farm animals. Cats who will "babysit" a litter that isn't their own, dogs nursing pups from a separate litter (very common if the dog has lost her pups and goes into a mental recline. Some people will look toward shelters and fosters to see if there have been any orphaned puppies she can care for). Animals have the biggest hearts and they often share that affection freely.

We had a Labrador who fostered around 50 kittens. At first we thought they where only sucking for comfort but after a week we found out she was actually giving some milk!!! Couldn't believe it. Vet said: it happens but rarely. She was just born to be a mom, mothered every creature around her.

Their ear is chipped, that ain't no stray
@amandamckinney6331Күн бұрын
In the US if the ear is clipped it just means the stray is probably part of a spay/neuter release program so the amount of stray pregnancy is lowered without taking to a shelter and possibly having it euthanized for non adoption after the first couple days. The shelters are notorious for being called kill shelters because the amount of strays and abandoned cats they take in is too much for the shelters to keep and care for after a few days .. it's sad so volunteer organizations will trap strays and fix then then return them to their outdoor life again to avoid the mass killings at shelters

Same thing for me! One day she walked on to my porch. Poor thing, & she looks like she's ready to drop those babies any day now She is SOOO fat! Then she turns around & realized "She is a fixed MALE!! He LOVES my brother to death. He acts like a dog listening to commands. Even though his "biological " parents live right across the street. We told them we had their cat but there is nothing i can do about it. I leave my garage door open enough for the cats to come in & out, so HE comes in & out They decided after 4 years Dave really liked it over here, so did we want him. Needless to say, CAT # 5 By the way, they were moving to MO. & we renamed him Moochie Very pretty fur baby. Looks like she àdores you.

You probably don’t know about nurse mares. People actually raise maresFemale horses and get them pregnant just to have Horses for this purpose. You pay them for the horse kind of like a rental for the period of time a newborn full needs a mare with milk sustain itself. They usually take the foal away from the nurse mare And send that horse to the foal in need. Hopefully the rental horse takes to the foal eventually. Many times racehorses may die giving birth or they aren’t good moms so they take foal away to substitute mom. Return original mom to racing or to be bred again. Foals of nurse mates are sometimes euthanized or hand raised milk supplementation.
