I don't believe the first move would work. Kata isn't meant to defend against Karate style attacks and using two hands to block one punch means the opponent's other hand is free.

Great to see the Portrait of Jigoro Kano, the founder of Judo. It is the testimony to the fact that Gichin Funakoshi and Jigoro Kano have so much respect for each other. It was Kano who eased up Funakoshi's journey to establish Shotokan Karate in Mainland Japan. In fact both Shotokan and Kodokan Judo compliment each other. They are certainly not contrary!

I love this kata, I watch it over and over again and practice it with lady karate black belt Sensei, the hidden self defence techniques are unbelievably powerful, focused, precise a must for all women to learn, the benefits are mesmerising with this knowledge true empowerment is simply breathtaking ! oss 🥋🦶👊 x

I love practicing shuto uke with nukite chudan us women have strong and powerful hips and spear hand strike to a male attackers solar plexus would enable us to follow trough with say kingeri, uraken jodan, empi to his spine finish him off with kakatogeri to the groin, all done as lady karate black belt Sensei demonstrated with ear shattering loud KIAI’S

The hit to the groin or the defense against the punch? Btw, I m really having a hard time fight against untrained boxers. They say no kicks and no fast finishes. Can u help

@@TopG20073 why spar against untrained boxers? Anyway, they have their own fighting system, which also works well on the street. A Karateka has versatility and potentially lethal techniques (throat punches etc. ) for worst case scenarios in a real fight for survival. Does not mix too well with friendly sparring in a boxing gym. Nonetheless I respect nearly all martial arts. If you want to test Karate vs other martial arts, do MMA. Unfortunately, modern Karate lost the training of grappling, throws and joint locks, although they are contained in the higher kata. A true pity, as karate is kind of the grandfather of MMA ;-)

What I do wish is that all of these were available on DVD and zoned to play in the United States and was reasonably priced so even people who don't make a lot but want to practice could do so, and have a larger screen to watch while they did. So they could practice along with the video. And since it would be DVDs, they can take it with them anywhere

No one grabs your wrist after a downward block in a fight and throwing a reverse punch at a retreating fighter at kicking range results in a powerless punch. The hip throw after the rising block is not even in the kata. Also, during your kata you did not U-step, so you missed all of the lower body techniques and sacrificed balance. Finally, the downward hammer fist is not to release a wrist grab, the hammer fist IS a grab. You can dismiss my criticisms, but you know none of that would happen or be effective in a sparring match.
