Had an old guy bring in an iron head motor saying it wasn't working right and need a little refresh. The oil came out in turds. When I told the guy it was much more than a refresh because the oil looked like it was never changed his response was "you don't change oil in iron heads, you just top it off as needed". Then he told me I didn't know what I was taking about and took his motor. Gotta respect the guys commitment to being a dumbass. Lol

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 o my. That’s about as nonsensical as the suggested oil change interval some modern cars say to use. 10k miles is torture for an engine. I’m amazed how many of my friends don’t do basic maintenance on their vehicles. They don’t even check the oils levels in between changes. Coolant and oil. 2 critical components people often overlook. It’s mind blowing. I’m glad your not a dumb dumb in this area 💪💪🏆🏆

@@billyhighfill I do believe you can go 10k on newer vehicles, but you have to use quality synthetic 0w20 oil and I use mobile 1, you have to use a filter that's designed got extended use and you must definitely have to check your oil level weekly. I tested this out when I bought a Silverado new in 2016. The first 3 oil changes were at 3500 miles and 10k after that. The 5.3l is known to burn oil so if you didn't check it you could end up having a bad day. I never seen any signs of issues and the mileage stayed consistent for the 165k I put on it. I personally think the big problem is people are lazy and don't check their oil or at least often enough and they starve the motor for oil between oil changes. If you are working that engine harder than normal daily driving, you should probably cut that 10k in half as well.

I check often. And let the oil tell me when it’s ready to be changed. Color and viscosity are key indicators, and I’ve never had a vehicle get close to 10k before the oil is clearly needing changed. 5k max. Unless it’s all highway, no way ide ever push 10 on an oil change.

@@billyhighfill I drive a Dodge now so it's mandatory I check it weekly. One week I'll burn a qtr quart the next week with the same amount of driving and I'll be a full quart down. I can't figure this truck out for the life on me. Checked the PCC valve and cleaned it. Checked breather hoses for cracks.

Lady said it didn’t run and she didn’t know why. 1 thing was all it needed (throttle cable) and it’s ran perfect since!! I hope you can get your hands on an older lawn boy like this someday!!
