Looks stunningly delicious and makes me very hungry! Shame Gruyère is so expensive where I live and for Kirsch I will have to go abroad. A well, I stick to the haggis I suppose.

Discovered this video last year and absolutely saved my cheese fondue! This year I am using the same video again. Cut down ingredient list per person is very helpful. Im using a bit less spices for my taste. Thank you!!

This seems overly complex with spices....especially paprika...I have never been in a Swiss home where they use paprika or other herbs in the mix. My mom (who is Swiss) makes a roux of Olive oil, roasted garlic ,flour, and a very dry white port wine for thickening...and Kirsch is not a given in every household in Switzerland...I use a Hungarian Cherry Palinka...and Rye bread...not in any Swiss home I've been in.

PLEASE tell me where you got that white spatula you mixed it with. My mom had one of those, not plastic, its like bone or maybe some coated wood idk, but ours broke and we can literally not find it anywhere in existence, they all just make shit plastic ones

This is an amazing video, great way to understand the technique. I tried it a couple of ways and this worked really well to make a kirsch cornstarch slurry and add it at the end. Thank you!

I love how peasant dishes have elevated to gourmet food in so many cultures. We've made this fondue a few times and it's a real crowd pleaser. Thanks for sharing your interpretation of this amazing dish.

after the piece of bread stuck in a long fork dipped in the melted cheese was eaten, how would you clean the fork before next helpings without saliva contamination when sharing with others?

u dont need exactly 200 gr per person. dont use italian herbs. only nutme g and pepper. cut a big garlic to "paint" the "wall" of the pan with the juice. sry my english is not perfect, normally i speak swiss german. - but i know how to prepare fondue. Im swiss - not sweden or german... dont measure the white wine. dont use german Kirsch. swiss Kirsch is mostly frog Zug or Basel in beautifulllll switzerland. dont measure corn stark. if the fondue is too liquide u take again. if the fondue is not liquid enough use lemon juice. BUT: the bread hes using is great and also the size... tray cheap champagne instead of white wine... - check also raclette - at home u have small pan, in the restaurant the melt the big side of a half chees - very delicous also and a little bit less stinking.. En Guete - enjoy your meal

at 5:50 you can see how the cheese separates from the whine. If you add the cornstarch at the beginning, with the whine, that wont happen.

Great recipe for boiled garlic. Would be hard pressed to taste anything other than that at how disproportional that recipe is even if you are a garlic fan. Also, in fondue you never eat directly off your fondue fork.
@england670 Жыл бұрын
How do you eat the Fondue if not directly off the Fondue fork?
@lcoghlin Жыл бұрын
@@england670 you dip using the fondue fork, place on a plate, and then use your own flatware to consume. Fondue is a communal dish; direct to mouth is unsanitary.

Sorry your recipe may be to your liking, maybe even to mine, who knows? But please don't call it a Swiss fondue! You put a ton of garlic, while a single clove is enough, you add half a dozen herbs, but the only spices you need are nutmeg, salt and pepper. You put too much liquid and especially too much kirsch (one glass or even half glass is enough) and too much cornstarch. You should come here, in France in the region of Franche-Comté or in Savoie or go to Switzerland, I hope that then you will understand what a real good fondue is. Good appetite anyway, with your wine and cheese soup. Lol.

Thanks for the very interesting video. I didn't know about the tea tradition with fondue, and dipping the bread into kirsch first. In the Canton de Vaud, we gravitate toward the 50% Grueyere/50% Vacherin recipe. I'm traveling to Switzerland in a few months and will load up on fondue at COOP, as well as some Cailler chocolate. I'll have to keep my eyes open for that kirsch brand that you recommended.
