The rosary should not be about fashion. Should be about devotion to Jesus Christ. If you want to wear a rosary on your body wear on your left side around A belt. It is meant to be a sword. To be used as protection when prayed not seen. Mini priests and monks will wear it on their left side like they did an old times with a sword that was in a sheath. Wearing it as jewelry is not respectful. Pray and Ask the Holy Spirit what you should do. Pray for wisdom through and understanding in following Jesus Christ..

This is just like how the crucifix is now worn for fashion. No one would wear a burka if they weren't muslim. No one would wear a Kipah unless they were jewish. Since i was a little girl ive had reverence for a rosary, and i didnt even know what it was for. Well, decades later, now i do. I have many rosaries, but lately, ive picked up a 20 decade wood bead version. So beautiful, but really cumbersome to wear, or even store in a pouch in my purse. I pray on that one a lot at home, though i can never get past number 10. The sterling silver rosaries are easier to hide under clothes, but many are too long to wear and im afraid i will break the crucifix. If i can double it up it is much shorter and easier to obscure under a shirt. One day, i discovered the Eastern Orthodox chotki. Especially the monks, version which is very long and made of wool. Very beautiful, but those 300 knots make for a thick, bulky item to be wearing around the neck, having to loop it several times around the neck. I fall asleep with the "jesus prayer", and thats just fine with me! So, these glorious items stay home, and i use a smaller chotki, or single decade rosary, easier to travel with. Im not even Catholic, though im one of those kids who snuck across the street to see what the Catholic parishoners were doing. Shhhh, dont tell anyone! Im Episcopalian, and only in the 1980s, did the Anglican church invent their own prayer beads. By that time i was thoroughly indoctrinated into the Catholic Liturgy. Not much different than the Episcopal liturgy, made it easier to memorize. I dont often attend church, but when i do, i carry my favorite prayer beads with me, just in case. I leave you with a quote from the late Robin Williams. "Im Episcopalian, all the ceremony, none of the guilt." Yep.
