G'day @Baron_de_Charlhus - how are you? Thanks for the feedback, good to hear from you. I confess I simply don't understand the crux of your request. I'm torn between provinding an explanation to respect the fact you have taken the time to contribute your thoughts vs a simple answer which is "no". You've asked for less talking. Oddly I figure maybe perhaps I can explain my position within a 2nd 'In conversation with...talkback radio' episode - apologies, by defintion that would be more talking, not less. I spent 12 to 15 hours yesterday onsite and travelling to #AO2025 to acquire more #AO2025 footage for you all. Specifically, late afternoon / night sessions. From #AO2025 I rode the after midnight train home with a crew of trouble-making drunks - with an enforced stop at the office to grab the laptop. Thanks again. G'day @Baron_de_Charlhus - how are you? Thanks again for the feedback -- been thinking quite a bit about your request. I'll try to be transparent / succinct as possible without giving away the overall IP/game plan. I don't get paid to produce this content - been at it for 5 years. So you'll understand: I have to / want to enjoy what I'm producing / doing. You can see for yourself: 366 episodes -- not to mention hours of fulltime filming, editing, producing etc -- not much ROI in terms of time, effort, $$$ I've invested so far. But generous feedback and input helps, yours also. This platform essentially a testing ground as a 'proof of concept' for #ott/#fastchannels content distribution platforms to 1.4. billion smart TV's world-wide. The platform also is an incubator where I can develop / grow new skills and folio of work. That's why I continue sinking / investing so much time into this project - more details here: * #ao2025 Australian Open - Tour Welcome | Update - Content Coverage | this australian open life ** kzbin.info/www/bejne/nonEf3Swm9-SfKc Short story is I'm not a 'youtuber' - so I'm probably not meeting / following standard YT practices. Am more of a content entreprenuer, content innovator and content strategist. I like ideas - this is only just one. The other side of 'why' is that I get to test this idea, content and format(s) as I see it, without reporting back to a higher authority such as an employer or client. re: graphics: point taken - they were atrocious 1st couple of years... Hope this of some value towards why I can't meet your request. Much appreciated 'cos you've given me pause to reflect more on the 'why', 'what for' side of things. Hope to hear from you again - no probs if given the above, #AO2025 / #AOLife content not for you. AOLife

It's a shame he went out in the first round. He should have gone further but it just wasn't his day 😕 We saw his brother playing in the doubles on Thursday. They had a win but I think they were beaten yesterday.

G'day @tennisfancaz22 - 1st round loss a surprise, but not as big a surprise as chancing upon this Tsitsipas practice session. So after 5 years and your 1st request for interview this is 1st time and as close as I could get to the bloke. 1st look at 'party court' setup. Will track down Tsitsipas media conference - - watch out for that (no media pass #AO2025). I did see Tsitsipas' brother's name same day on practice schedule... realised I didn't know his brother was grand slam level. Is he any good? Or more a Jamie Murray-esque type pro? Hope the seats at Margaret Court Arena were good view. I ran out of energy during the evening / night session I went to. Not much of a night owl. Did see Goffin getting a good working over by a French player and boistrous French Crowd out in the sticks at Court 15. Elise Mertens on opposite Court 13 - won her tie break 10 - 8 in the 3rd (or 2nd...). 2 Belgian players going at it almost back-to-back-to-backs-to-wall simultaneously. Thanks again. AOLife

G'day @tennisfancaz22 - yeah, 'disappointed' best word for it. Sat for an hour watching her hit through a very competitive session with Miss Sramkova - not a great result for a wildcard ranked 124 - maybe evidence that protected rankings don't help the player re: actual current form? Still to be fair the margins at grand slam level so thin and fine. Anyways - got a good hour of live commentary out of that practice session so stay tuned. AOLife

NEW INFO - btw I forgot to add...at #AO2025 entry rules are now even stricter. Security personell actually refused me entry on 8 JAN 2025 to #AO2025 qualifying saying 'Shooting Grip - Sony With Wireless Remote Commander' was banned. I was told b/c 'Shooting Grip - Sony With Wireless Remote Commander' also can convert into a tripod, I was only allowed in if I didn't have 'Shooting Grip - Sony With Wireless Remote Commander' with me. So 80% to 90% of footage is hand-held #AO2025. The answer to all these challenges is in my 1st reply above - would really appreciate every bit of assistance from every viewer, not just subscribers. Much appreciated. AOLife

On-site this week filming, then editing etc. btw - was very surprised and disappointed to see Melbourne Park precint....how AO has secluded so much public space behind massive building-site hoardings. To me - looks very ominous and far from friendly, welcoming envrionment and atmosphere Melbourne should be showing our domestic and international visitors. Interested in your thoughts. Am I over-reacting? re: commentary - if I can muscle up any bravado, will try to hold up some AO2025 fans making their way on foot along the yarra for podcast-type audio sound bites. Not sure if will be practical investment of time so we'll see. Some new 'behind-the-scene' footage coming also. Thanks - as always appreciate your contributions. Keep 'em comin' please... AOLife

@thisaustralianopenlife Hello again .. I'm well thanks. I've been working a lot lately, and that combined with the heat has me a little tired - but never too tired for the tennis! Oh, that's interesting about your opinion of how the AO is set up this year. Having attended each year for the past 12 years, I've noticed it changes each year, but usually for the better! I wasn't too keen on the graffiti wall look they adopted a few years ago, but normally I like what they do. I'll definitely check it out and see what I think, and let you know if course 😃 It's not good if they're blocking or restricting access to clear walkways as it gets so crowded there - easy flowing pedestrian walkways are a must! Most of their changes have been positive, but now and then they miss the mark! That's a great idea to interview the fans. I'm sure it would be easier the more you do it. Just say you have a tennis channel on KZbin and are garnering live footage. Simple questions such as who they'd like to see win the trophy and whether they're Melburnians or travelled from afar to be there. There are many overseas visitors that come for the Open, especially from the US I think. Keep up the great work. I'm glad you're not sick of my comments yet - I'll keep them coming 😅😂

Hey mate you must watch Joao Fonseca the way he won yesterday! Wow that was beautiful tennis the way he played was like someone who was in there prime. It's gonna be a great battle against Coleman Wong today. Also Bernie got destroyed he was pathetic. Hewitt played amazing for a 16 year old. At least Sweeney got a win hope he can qualify like last year. Great to see Blake Ellis win as he destroyed Escoffier 6-1 6-2. James Trotter vs Martin Landaluce should be a great battle.

@thisaustralianopenlife yes, we've recovered from our brush with COVID and back to good, all ready for the tennis! We had a belated family Xmas get-together last Saturday which was nice. You should get some good footage this week as the sun is shining once again. Maybe Fed Square, Flinders Street and Bourke Street mall will get you some nice vibrant footage, although I think you may have included them previously. Docklands is nice too, although getting far away from the AO precinct. Whatever you decide to include will work! A shame that Cruz Hewitt didn't get through qualifiers, but plenty of time left for future events. He's definitely showing much promise! Looking forward to Sunday. Fingers crossed for the Aussies - there is some great talent there. I'm sure Nick will provide some possibly controversial entertainment for us. He'll find something to complain about for sure 😂

@thisaustralianopenlife 26 күн бұрын
G'day @tennisfancaz22 - No, in 1st attempt at #AO2022 I tried covering lead-up tournaments. Was too big a job. Found that episode content was getting stale and out-of-date by the time #AO started. Only realised that over course of following years. Have to find a balance between the content I like to present vs trying to be 'fresh' and somewhat relevant. Still working on that... Still thinking of Traralgon though 'cos would make great 'time capsule' content moment for future and 'legacy' content if the kid Hewitt emulates his dad's long career & achievements. Having said all that been getting some search hits recent days for Adelaide International, United Cup etc, so interest defintely there. You're spot on re: downtime between tournaments. Same issue being discussed in UK Premier League: that professional players are being asked to play so much that their bodies are just simply not coping and recovering. Just ask Ange about his injury list at Spurs! AOLife

@tennisfancaz22 26 күн бұрын
@thisaustralianopenlife that's fair enough - your workload is more than enough, that's for sure! I think it would be a great idea if you can manage the trip to Traralgon and obtain some footage of Cruz Hewitt. I've noticed a lot of interest regarding your videos about Cruz - who knows, he may just be the next best thing in tennis and indeed following in his dad's footsteps! Yes, players are worked to the max nowadays, and that's probably why so few can last the 10-15 year span of a professional tennis player's life. Hopefully the tennis federation will allow them a few more weeks downtime, particularly towards the end of the year - they deserve it! It's great that you're dedicating your time and effort to making innovative and unique content for your channel and future media productions. "This Australian Open Life" is a great concept and I'm sure it will keep evolving for years to come!

Omar Jasika received the final wildcard for the aussie men. Whilst Lucas Pouille received the French wildcard and Nishesh Basavareddy received the USA wildcard. Since Pouille is the 2nd alt in the maindraw if he gets into the maindraw via his ranking then the wildcard will go to the retiring Richard Gasquet. Who do you think out of all the wildcards have the best shot of making it to the 2nd round or further? Do you think any aussies will qualify for the maindraw. I'm curious to see how Bernard Tomic will go alongside Alex Bolt and the returning Jason Kubler. Bit of luck they qualify along with Dane Sweeney, Marc Polmans and hopefully Cruz Hewitt can get a win in the qualifying. Which aussie do you think will do the best at the Australian Open. Maybe Nick Kyrgios will make a deep run if he does well at Brisbane. Will de minuar finally make the quarters? How will the other Australians do? These style of videos are great, longer videos are always better. Keep it up looking forward to Brisbane and the United Cup starting this week. Hopefully Alex De Minuar can take us all the way to the final. Hopefully Nick Kyrgios can make a deep run in Brisbane along with Thanasis Kokkinakis, Alexei Popyrin, Jordan Thompson, Rinky Hijikata and Adam Walton. Also it'll be great to see Nick and Novak team up in the doubles. Watch out for the players in the qualifying of Brisbane with James Duckworth, Alexander Vukic, Christopher O'Connell, Jason Kubler, Alex Bolt, Tristian Schoolkate set to take part. Li Tu, Dane Sweeney, Blake Ellis and potentially Bernard Tomic will get qualifying wildcards into Brisbane qualifying. Also forgot to mention Jasika will be part of Australia's United Cup team so that'll be great for him to learn under De Minuar as he plays against some of the bst players in the world. Also regarding Luke Saville he has been playing alot of singles mainly on the ITF tour and is slowly building up his ranking. Also with Stan I think this sadly will be his final year on tour hopefully he can reach the 2nd round or better. Bring on the Aussie Summer!

G'day @DanTuber - thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. I couldn't sense the same re: nepotism when researching / profiling the kid last week: * ⁴ᴷ Cruz Hewitt Highly Rated Aussie Junior! | PLAYER WATCH #grandslam #ao2025 #wildcards #atptour * kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoOrpmSgaJhpjbM Lleyton's pride and animal competitive instinct(s) as player/father/mentor/davis cup captain ... you really think so? Knowing Lleyton's public persona the way we do - notwithstanding the fact he's current Aussie Davis Cup captain - I can't possibly see how there's any whiff of nepotism. I'd get a little suss if Cruz suddenly appeared in the Davis Cup squad and led off a few ties in a row as lead player... btw - Cruz was nominated for young male tennis player 2024, his ITF juniors rank went to #90 or #99 in October 2024. He lost that award to Hayden Jones (18), who also was given #AO2025 wildcard. ok so devil's advocate time - who would you give Cruz wildcard to instead? Appreciate you taking time to contribute. G'day @DanTuber - thanks again. Candour much appreciated. I get where you're coming from now. I take your point. In terms of #wildcards, you've reminded me why I dubbed 1 half of the $pecial K's 'Box Office Nick Kyrgios' a couple of years ago. He was also given a wildcard. In my own uniformed way, I felt it was granted purely to draw the crowds, maintain telly ratings and keep the click baits going. Prepared to also admit I was a bit miffed ...at the time. Also with Saville and Tomljanovic - are their #AO2025 #wildcards justifiable? I'm keen to always find/unearth Challenger tour players. Are you aware of 1 or 2 mens/womens singles who would be worth profiling? No probs if not. I appreciate your frank input and insights. Across the board, helps to keep me learning about who is out there grinding on the challenger tour. In turn I can create greater awareness of those players here hopefully. Thanks again AOLife

This is a great tribute to Neale Fraser 🌟. He was an Aussie icon who probably didn't receive as much attention as other players, but certainly deserves the recognition for his wonderful achievements. He played during the era when money wasn't the driving factor, and playing for your country was the biggest reward. He'd be honoured and proud to hear this tribute. Thanks for sharing. G'day @tennisfancaz22 -- Thanks, appreciate you taking the time to watch as always. Yeah - it's an easy, tired ol' cliche for media, our collective memories and Aussies sports culture to gloss over the '2nd tier' performers like Fraser et al by just name checking Laver, Rosewall, Newcombe. Probably will do a 2nd episode soon, 'cos am thinking the 1st one only scratches the surface... There was an abundance of men & women top tier performers who simply don't get mentioned anymore. My strong memory of 80s Davis Cup was although Fraser was always front & centre as Captain, hardly anyone ever talked in real time about his own achievements as as player. Did Fraser feature on 'This Is Your Life' with Roger Climpson even...? ever?

more granular break-down that may be of interest... ‘The spirit of the Davis Cup’: Australian tennis legend Neale Fraser Honour Roll | Neale Fraser * Highest ranking: No.1 (1959) * Davis Cup - player: 1955-1963, 18 wins, 3 losses (11-1 singles; 7-2 doubles) * Davis Cup - captain: 1970-1993, 49 wins, 19 losses (titles in 1973, 1977, 1983, 1986) * Grand slam titles (19) * Singles: Wimbledon 1960; US Open 1959, 1960 * Men’s doubles: Australian Open 1957, 1958, 1962; Roland Garros 1958, 1960, 1962. Wimbledon 1959, 1961. US Open 1957, 1959, 1960 * Mixed doubles: Australian Open 1956. Wimbledon 1962. US Open 1958, 1959, 1960 --- Paul McNamee won the Davis Cup twice under the guidance of Neale Fraser and says simply: “If one person embodied the spirit of the Davis Cup, it was him.” This is not merely rhetoric. Fraser, who died on Tuesday, aged 91 rose briefly to the top of world tennis in 1959 and 1960, winning Wimbledon and the US Nationals - as they were then known - twice. He was ranked the world’s No.1 amateur then. He also won 16 major doubles and mixed doubles titles and four Davis Cups under the captaincy of the legendary Harry Hopman. --- Probably will do a 2nd episode, 'cos am thinking the 1st one only scratches the surface...

@@thisaustralianopenlife Wow, Neale was a lot more successful than I ever knew. Nineteen grand slam titles isn't far behind Roger, Rafa & Novak! He's almost in Rod Laver league with those titles to his name. Thanks for sharing those stats - there are many things there that I didn't know. Neale was quite low-key after his tennis career ended and we didn't really hear much about him via the media, but his brilliant tennis career deserves to be celebrated! 🌟🎾🏆
