Arbroath had been in the lower divisions for 14 years by this stage and, despite the buzz around McGrains tenure, wouldn’t attain promotion for another 4 years. It’s been a rollercoaster since then.

One must remember, that Yugoslavia were probably the number 1 side in Europe from September 1990 - December 1991. No coincidence, that Red Star were the number 1 as well.

Not suprised 'Red Star' were the best Team in general back in the day when was a member of 'Play By Mail' along with a few M8's. I was allocated Auxerre, but friend had these & we were always begging him to sell Pancev, Jugovic or anyone tbh. RSB players possessed high 'Ratings'.

Modern football truly sucks. So clinical and boring with the same sides almost guaranteed to reach at least the QF each season. You will never see a team like Red Star Belgrade, Dynamo Kiev or Steau Bucharest make it out of the group stages of the UCL ever again. Apart from the English teams, Real Barca, Bayern, the top Serie A side and maybe PSG, the remaining teams are just making up the numbers from now on.

Growing up in the 70s in Romania I was quite fond of Celtic Glasgow, which I saw several times on TV. I guess I liked the Scotts' fighting spirit. But here, some tackles seemed more appropriate for a rugby game.

John Collins said naw tae Rangers as did Ray Houghton. Gary Gillespie managed tae play for Liverpool which is extraordinary. Elvis and Boyd both mediocre. Gary Stevens and Trevor Steven were both decent⚽️👏🏼
