Thank you Sabin this was a very helpful video. I wonder where you're at now? Did you pursue the medical field or do something else instead.

Hey! Glad I could be of some help! Life is crazy!! I ended up going through really bad depression for a few years and dropped out of school. I took over a year to figure myself out, changed my major, and started a pet care business!! I’ve got so many plans, and one of them includes getting back on KZbin to share my journey and what I’ve learned. I would love it if you gave my future videos a watch!! Thank you for checking and commenting!

What if I just want to talk to old crusty vets? I don’t want to wipe butts or do hospital stuff.

Lol I’m literally just seeing this. They will not make you wipe butts as a volunteer 😂😂 the most you’ll do is pick up dirty dishes and put em on a cart

@sabintee92323 жыл бұрын
You should ask them what the dress code is for volunteers. They usually give a polo with the hospital logo or something along those lines.

I have been a ward volunteer for a few months, its great, all i will advise is just be yourself, be open for your reasons of wanting to do the role, I attended a group introduction by my local health service in Wales (but will vary i expect by region so may differ for yourself) where we were then put into groups to complete some fun simple tasks, then was a 1 on 1 interview on a separate day (don't be phased, it was friendly, just dress presentable ( i wore trousers, shirt and jumper but obviously personal choice what you think is best appropriate for yourself)), if your successful and obviously if you feel the role is for you also now you know more about it then the DBS and I.D checks and health check to do and then an induction day and tour then off to go a few times shadowing an experienced person already in the role. then when you are ready to go it alone they will say go ahead if everyone is happy. sounds alot but its a great experience, rewarding and enjoyable. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Hey, man pretty soon I am gonna start volunteering in the hospital so I had this question in a mind which is about the job. I know they don't pay you but do get training on your first day or do they teach u what to do?
@sabintee92326 жыл бұрын
yash patel they teach you but honestly most of it is really easy specially if you’re not working the desk. When I worked the ER desk I was getting taught by a old man who didn’t know how to do half the things on the computer so I had to figure it out but the other stuff is super easy. Good Luck!

I agree. I volunteer for 3 hours in the Medical Intensive Care Unit, and after restocking linens, I usually have nothing to do. Sometimes I help the NAs clean rooms and stuff but for the most part it's boring as heck and it feels like a waste of time (even if it isnt). Also I agree that some of the nurses don't seem to give a shit about their patients, calling them things like "turd" when they're talking amongst themselves. I guess the one plus is when nurses retire and what not they bring cake or cookies to their break room and every now and then I like to sneak in there and grab something for myself.

How many months are you gonna volunteer for? And does volunteering has age limit. I'm 17 now and a sophomore at Lone Star community college. I would be transferring in either fall 2019 or spring 2020 for my bsn program. So in trying to get some hands on experience and sort

For volunteer interviews most likely than not you will be accepted as long as they don’t have like 50 people willing to volunteer. As long as you don’t do anything that really stands out as sub par

So did you enjoy volunteering? Any dislikes or likes especially?
@sabintee92326 жыл бұрын
Yeppy 01 so I’m finishing my last 4 hours that I committed to them this week. Over all I liked the experience. I think the best part of it all was when I would help a patient and they seemed to genuinely appreciate what we did as volunteers and I was happy with going above and beyond what the hospital asked me to do. The worst part was some...a lot of the nurses where all nice to me BUT a a lot of them where straight up assholes to patients and specially to the family members of patients. Because of that i actually decided that I don’t want to be a nurse. I could never work with people like that
@yeppy0136 жыл бұрын
Sabin Tee thanks for the comments. So what are your options now since you no longer want to purse nursing?
@sabintee92326 жыл бұрын
Yeppy 01 you might think I’m crazy but I’m one of those people who like animals more then I like people. Iv been working with animals for a little over s year now and I decided that I want to be a vet. Soooo much work but I think it’s worth it

What do you think is the difference between choosing a private verses a public hospital when it comes to volunteering??
@sabintee92326 жыл бұрын
Yeppy 01 the hospital I volunteered at was a private hospital so I can only speak for that hospital. the only thing that surprised me was how they where always understaffed even in the ER, but if you have any specific questions fell free to ask and I’ll answer them the best I can

Thinking about pursuing a career in the medical field but I'm not sure so I was wondering that maybe I should start volunteering this summer and the rest of the year to see if I like the environment and to gain some experience, great video and thanks for sharing.
@sabintee92326 жыл бұрын
Ritsu_oAo you should def do it! I after volunteering I learned that I don’t want to be a nurse but rather a veterinarian. A lot of the nurses that I worked with where rude to patients and family members and I could never work with people like that
