So the only for sure 100 percent true statement about the term JDM here is the meaning of the acronym being Japanese Domestic Market. I do not believe there ever will be a true definition if the term however. I highly recommend everyone who is curious to the origins of what JDM was and has now become watch a documentary called The Pursuit Of Function. Might break some hearts and make a select few very happy. When people talk about what is now considered JDM, which this guy did extremely well, they first have to understand how the term originated. I wont go into that in crazy detail on this comment but here is a brief rundown. It was originally used as a way to describe a specific tuning style which originated in the California 90's Honda community. The style utilized genuine Japanese performance parts and drivetrains, as well as Japanese exclusive oem/aftermarket interior/exterior parts on the North American variants of those specific models. The true Origins of the term JDM can be traced back to that time and that group of people. Shout out to FF Squad for kicking off a cultural phenomenon. We all owe so much to those guys.

One of my friends has a Toyota Aurion, a car that was ONLY sold in Australia, and he had a JDM sticker and on that said "made in Japan" and other Japanese stickers all over the rear window.. i told him that his car isn't "JDM" and that the Aurion was a car for the Australian market. he has taken the stickers off now.

I believe the software kicks you into "sport mode" when you gun it and if you let off suddenly you're still in gear feeling the engine braking. My other car is a manual and sometimes find myself feeling for the clutch pedal. It's rare but it's annoying.
