You can raise the same question to the arabs too. Sheikh Jarrah was originally a Jewish neighborhood. Another thing is that palestinians had the opportunity to get compensation for their lost property after the war. Jews did not have that privilege.

@@kjkh3104there were no opportunity to get any compensations after Nakba! There properties were sold to JNF less than a year after the war ended. Sheikh Jarrah was a mixed neighbourhood. If a Jew can claim back a property in Jarrah, then equally that Palestinian family should also be allowed to claim and take back their property inside Israel proper. Playing this game won’t be helpful to Israel, since Arab claims are maybe 10-1 in ratio to Jewish claims , between the river to the sea.

Rachel, not saying this as a defence of Israel, but there is a doctrine about if you possessed something that was stolen and sold to you (without you knowing it was stolen), you can keep it after a period of time was passed. -- this is not helpful to Israel since the restrict Palestinian movement and land registrations but allow settlers to squat and claim any plot they like.

@@Kevin-yt9or Jews didn't get opportunity for compensations. And Arabs definitely did. They could get finincial compensation. And Sheikh Jarrah, or in its original name, the neighborhood of "Shimon Hatzadik" was purchased by Jews, and it's ownership transferred under the Jordanian occupation. And besides where do you get that ratio from? I doubt that it makes sense considering the amount of lands that the Jordanians and Egypt got.

I will be waiting. ~~~ I get the ratio from the number of Palestinians who were displaced during Nakba (+800k), and the number of Jews who to flee the West Bank or Jerusalem were tiny in comparison. . --- Today, Israel plays a gimmick game to steal lands. While seizing land for defensive use can be lawful, Israel keeps turning them out to private developers to build settlements is obviously illegal and cheating. Wonder why all the firing zones are established in in West Bank and not in Israel proper!!!
