Quiet hours, aerating places, not needing AC, you are all right. People sometimes are annoying by telling you if you did wrong. But it seems to strengthen society.... Interesting your perceptions. I 've been living in the US, the UK and then returned to Germany. And - hey, it's not all golden over here 😊

You get money out when recycling. As you said. Otherwise collecting glass, metal, plastic, paper doesn't cost you. Put it into the correct bins. Showers are always detachable 😊

Uhhh, the evil squirrel attacks... The handheld in the shower is typical for the last decades. Since about five to ten years, there are more build in showerslike "rainforrest", but almost together with a handheld.

Recycling plastic bottles is the biggest scam. Just wait until you see a shelf toilet. It'll make you scratch your head. The windows are definitely better. Shower wands are awesome. They make cleaning the shower so much easier and quicker. If you don't have one go to Home Depot and spend $35.

The smaller European squirrels are actually threatened by the US squirrels as invasive species, as they are bigger and are threatening to make the smaller European variant extinct. And the little squirrel certainly didn‘t want to attack you, but was probably expecting to get a little treat/food from you!

I was actually waiting for the „windows“ comment, but actually was surprised that you didn‘t mention the „tilting“ function. Could it be that you have not yet figured this function out? Just turn the handle all the way up and the window will tilt towards you a little!

Typical American ignorance: The whole world - except USA, Myanmar and Liberia - uses the metric system. And then it's still a "shock" that you can't get along with this imperial nonsense in other countries? How about thinking outside the box and finding out BEFORE you travel to other countries. I heard there are bookstores and libraries in America too and books which are called Travel Guids. Just imagine, even if the shower head CAN be removed from the bracket, that doesn't mean that you HAVE TO remove it from the bracket. The heads can be moved, you can also slide them all the way up and then have the same functionality as in the USA and the guaranteed full wash if you want to shower your child or your dog. Everything is closed on Sunday is also typical American exaggeration. Yes, the trade unions here make sure that people have the weekends off and a reasonable life work ballance. That means most companies are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Retail is ONLY closed on Sundays. American companies are always trying to soften this up, but so far our unions have been stronger. Nevertheless, you can do many things on Sundays. Restaurants, dance, sports and leisure facilities, fitness studios, swimming pools, amusement parks, museums, cinemas, theaters etc. are open, there are sports competitions, fairs, festivals and celebrations. It's not like Williamsburg on Sabbath. And yes, even if Germans go to the sauna naked or do nudism, it's NOT mandatory. I always go to the sauna in a bathing suit and all my friends do the same. Nudity is also by no means accepted everywhere. Even in Berlin breastfeeding mothers are not very well accepted either. It's still a prudish society, although there are even breastfeeding St. Maries in our churches, but not every culture who lives here accepts it. You portray the cash culture as somehow backwards. Surprisingly, in Germany many more people - the vast majority now - use online banking instead of old fashioned check books. I've never seen one. With a German bank account you can pay by card in many shops throughout the EU - with our customer cards from the bank - we don't need expensive credit cards. Their high price for the shopkeeper is added to the price of the goods. I prefer to shop cheaper but cash instead of with card and expensive. Germans don't like living on debts as much as Americans. I don't understand how you can confuse €1 and €2 coins. When I travel, I familiarize myself with the currency.

If you search unsafe places in Berlin after sunset: Kottbusser Tor, Görlitzer Park and Hasenheide if you want to buy drugs. :) And at Kurfürstenstraße, Straße des 17. Juni and Oranienburger Straße if you want that a weird dude offers you money for s**. :D

The U.S. (ok, at least California) has had deposits on many glass bottles for the last 40 years that I'm aware, at least. as kids we used to collect bottles and turn them in for cash to buy sweets, or anything else we could afford from it. In fact right now I have four glass milk bottles to turn in that will give me $10USD, which I will put in my desk at work for a 'snack fund'. Regarding alcohol, allowing people to walk about with open containers of it would never work out. I'm not sure why they even allow it's consumption at all here. Keep in mind that many Americans, most that Europeans will never meet because they can't afford to travel, are little more than barbarians; impulsive, reckless, and wild. If you had them in Europe the laws about people strolling around with mugs full of beer would be changed in an instant.

I absolutely loved my time in America, but something that was difficult to get used to, was the fixed showers. It meant that every morning, I had to start the day with a hand-stand in the shower so that the water could reach every part of me. Eventually, I got used to the daily shower hand-stand, but I kept thinking how much easier it would be to just install a handle.

If you eat Milchschnitt (or other), be careful if you're on a ferry to an island in the North Sea. If you stand on the deck of the ferry, the seagulls can see you and if you are not careful, they will steal the Milchscnitte from your hand. There is a fish sale in the blue huts in the harbor area (lobster huts) on Heligoland (highly recommended- the blue huts and Helgeloand)), they will hand you an umbrella with your meal. Regardless of the weather. This makes it very difficult for the seagulls to steal your food.
