We are anti-natalists that have adopted a child. A weird kind of antinatalists, but not the only ones.

i dont really understand antinatalism, but i fully respect, understand, and support the choice not to have children (NOT ANTINATALISM). ive read schopenhauer before, and i understand that his pessimistic philosophy relates a lot to antinatalism (and i like his writing+ideas despite rarely agreeing with his points). however, this outlook, and the perspective that bringing children into this world is immoral, really degrades life, and the original purpose of living things. i understand that suffering is a part of life; every person who has lived for some time knows that. this doesnt have to mean that suffering IS life or that life IS suffering. life isnt always fair to us individuals, and that sucks. life isnt always pretty, and that sucks too. but sometimes it is, and that's worth something to me. we have the potential to be human, and humans were meant to fly. we cant ever be human if we are held down by gravity. i think antinatalism and pessimism are part of gravity. youre not selfish to want children, and youre not selfish to not want children! life isn't solely a war between good and evil none of us chose to be here so dont forget that you could make this place better

I am an antinatalist. More people need to think a lot more about having children. There’s many already existing kids in the adoption care system but parents just want to create their own. We need more people to care about these kids rather than creating their own.
@NoodlyPanda4 күн бұрын
I agree, and unfortunately too many parents have kids for selfish reasons like they're trying to save a relationship that's failing or they want fulfillment or someone to take care of them in their old age or something like that. That's not having a kid for the kid. Too many parents shouldn't be parents.

@@UzbekExMuslim While I don't have a problem with adoption per se, I don't personally think adoption is a fit for me because I don't think I'd make a good parent. While it's probably better than the foster care system I'm sure, I can't provide a life without suffering.

@@NoodlyPanda I see. I really like kids because they’re so cute, innocent. Even though I won’t have my own child, I have some plans to adopt one or two in the near future with my partner. I think this will be better than creating one by myself. Rather it’ll be alleviating the problem somebody else created. Anyway, thank you for your time ❤️

What I always find amusing is how my father or parents in general don’t see how hard it is for them to find a partner and they want to pass on that suffering to someone else a lot of men can’t even have have children and if they did it wouldn’t be worth it because their genetics are bad and I’m not talking about you I’m talking about myself that’s one of my reasons I don’t want to reproduce even if I found a woman it wouldn’t be worth it to pass on that suffering I’ve had to them you know
@NoodlyPanda9 күн бұрын
Yeah I know by experience, I don't want to pass on my genetics either. Fortunately I'm bisexual and can choose to be gay. I don't even donate sperm because I still see that as participating in bringing in life to suffer. Be it at a sperm bank or surrogate fatherhood, I'm not doing it. Good on you for choosing to do the right thing.

I strongly agree! No amount of good can outweigh a single instance of extreme suffering. One child with an incurable illness in chronic pain isn’t balanced by billions having their best day. We rightly pour resources into alleviating suffering, but we don't feel the same need to invest in amplifying happiness.

tell me please, imagine its the end of the world you survived in a small boat and you found two islands, one of the islands has people that actually believe in God, lets say this case they're going to be Christians or Muslims, and on the other Island you going to have atheists, and you only have one chance to choose to live in one Island, keep in mind it is the end of the world, there is no governments, there is no laws, everybody's living by his code, which island would you choose
@NoodlyPandaАй бұрын
Atheist. I wouldn't want to live in a a theocratic world under religious laws that I don't believe in. I realize the argument you're trying to push, like "Oh all Christians are good people" which is bullshit, not all Christians are good people and if given the opportunity, the extreme will institute laws. Example would be blue laws, which are unconstitutional because they're religious based. Believe in what you want to believe in, that's fine. But keep your religion to yourself as your bible tells you to do.

@@NoodlyPanda I think you didn't get my point I'm trying to say here is that atheists are not predictable they can do anything there is no law, I mean what could go wrong in any situation they can just take their life and rest in peace they will sleep for the rest of Eternity. that's why atheist has the biggest suicide rate between all the religious and non-religious, the other Island where Muslims live they don't have low either but they believe in something it doesn't matter if you agree with it or not but this thing actually keeps them away from hurting you or doing anything bad because they know that is a god watching they will not steal from you they will not lie or do any bad stuff because God is watching this is strong enough actually to make you believe

It got to a point where I was having to vacuum his rocks and change his water weekly because he was too big for his 6 gallon tank. Thankfully I was fortunate enough to be able to afford a 20 gallon earlier this month for my little bb :) He had the ick for a few days but he's happy and eating again. I remember still when he was itty bitty.
