The look and sound of a Brockway was unmistakable . Go out on the interstate and look at trucks today one thing immediately stands out.....They all look the same.

Hell yeah 💯 awesome thanks for the update on this pure nothing but the best engines on the world 🌎🌍 Detroit and caterpillar engines and those Cummins engines sucks

I had a 3-53 Detroit in a '58 IH 4x4 flatbed, and though just 3 cylinders, it sounded the same! I'd pull into construction sites with it and the concrete guys would freak, thinking their mud was here early, as the readymix plant then used Detroits in all their rigs

My pop had a K-100 with a screaming Detroit 318. Would walk up Montana mountains pulling 40k lbs of furniture with no sweat! RIP Papa😢

I love the way that 8V71 sounds!! Years ago in my area there was an oil company that had a fleet of brockways that were equipped with those engines. Always enjoyed listening to them.

Fuck this bobtail bullshit. Check out the 'Seattle Star climbing Mt Ousley'' clip . An S-model KW with a twin turbo 12v71 with aftercoolers, 96 000 pounds up the mountain.

I know this is 10 yrs later but take your foot off the Damn clutch.
@wayoutwille4 ай бұрын
Oh that’s great,it’s been 10 yrs an the clutch hasn’t come apart a heavy duty truck has a constant spinning throwout bearing keeping it greased is important Sence I don’t use the clutch to shift I only that up the 1” play on the top of the pedal for 2 reasons 1 to keep the Jake brake off while I’m shifting, unless I’d want to use it an 2 too be prepared to save the driveline if something goes wrong,if you noticed when I get done swapping gears my foot goes on the floor and im ready to put it in the wind lol

I drove a cabover freightliner with a V1271 hauling a double set of bellies with Alfalfa out of royal slope in eastern wa in the off season from my Alaska summer job working on a Salmon tender with twin V1271's. The freightliner 18 speed was a kick to drive and the tender was known as the fastest tender in SE Alaska loaded or empty...The Moonlight Maid, Petersburg Processors...Ray Woods. 110 foot WW2 sub chaser converted to pack 180,000 lbs of Salmon. 18kts fully loaded and 32 kts empty. Unfortunately she popped a plank and went down in 2012. www.ntsb.gov/investigations/AccidentReports/Reports/MAB1405.pdf

This is a very very smooth truck. I absolutely love old school diesels. Ours had a V8, V6 or inline six, but the purring is fantastic.

slam n jam . slam it in gear and jam your foot thru the floor . used to drive a 238 10 speed hauling chicken feed on hilly backroads . like beating on an anvil . you could make a lot of noise , but you could neither break it nor make it move .
