I read her book "Crossroad over High Himalayas" in 1988, and found it amazingly enriching. I still remember a phrase which she used in the book more than couple of times ie Tibetan cultural empire. I found this a perfect description of the relationship existing then between Tibet and people of other regions in the Himalayas.
