Marc was baiting, and mean-spirited. This was tough to listen to. Edit: Gallagher: What you’ve read.. have you ever SEEN my show? Marc: People have reported. You are portrayed as racist and homophobic. Why are you like that? Gallagher: It’s a place where people paid to be there. If they didn’t like it, they wouldn’t see it over and over? Why are you being this way? Marc: What? We were having a good conversation. What I do?

Gallagher was right, its fucking comedy...no holds barred. The left is so sensitive when it comes to "rules" - there are no fucking rules Moron (Maron). George Carlin's ghost is ashamed of your position.

29:56 That's something that I noticed when I moved here from Europe. Where I come from, people speak with their mouths and keep their heads relatively still. I come here and sometimes they're moving their heads so much I'm thinking "how do you not get dizzy doing that?"

I love maron and never thought Gallagher was funny but I don't think there should be rules placed on comedy. I think comedians should be allowed artistic license to do whatever material they want. Free speech.

You can’t have an actual conversation with someone, Marc, when you think you’re better than them. You wanted to give a sermon and blew up any chance of an interesting or humanizing dialogue.

Gallagher wasn't out-of-line. You were because you can't take a joke and you believe that certain people shouldn't be joked about. Weak people like you will be the death of standup comedy.

I've never heard of Marc Maron before this, and haven't heard anything about him since I heard about this interview, as I was going through stuff about Gallagher, so it shows who's better remembered. Not saying I completely disagree with what Marc says about Gallagher and his humor, but he handled the whole thing horribly at best. Just made himself look bad. Won't listen to another episode, ever.

Eddie, you are so right. I saw Van Halen at Nassau Coliseum in 1980. Not only did Roth talk a lot during songs, what irked me is he had the guys stop playing during songs to chat. That I could not believe. I suspected that he must have been a little drunk.

The best interviews are where the subject is allowed to express themselves, answer questions, and whenever necessary, perhaps given enough rope. Devoid of context, I would be inclined to view Gallagher as a champion of free speech and acceptance while Mr. Maron, unfortunately, plays like a modern woke shill. Obviously my view here is tainted by the stench of the cancel culture which predates this interview. Certainly I'm familiar with, and enjoy both of their prior work and know this not to be the whole picture. While Maron's questions were valid critiques, it's easy to appreciate Gallagher being put off by the undertone of attack on his character. If he is truly a racist or homophobe, a deft conversationalist will lead him to that ledge and let him jump. Though I don't believe it was Maron's intention, this played as if he wanted some credit for pushing. The epilog just steers this mess into the cringe ditch. Two people talking at each other punctuated with unfounded self righteousness. All this confounded by the fact that it is still not practical to think I know more about the subject than was revealed about the interviewer.
