I purchased TWO Bowman Palace frames on the basis of his infamous 10/10 review (on bike cc I think)... turns out they were death traps and the company went bust and left a lot of customers without refunds..... I did not know that Neil Bowman and Dave Arthur were MATES..............THANKS DAVE !

Thought you had purchased a Ltwoo groupset to go with it? Changed your mind on that one? Anyway, i own few bikes in my lifetime and come to the conclusion that it is all about your fit in the bike what makes you faster and not the bike frame necessarily. The frame is a tiny % of that frontal aero drag. Tyres and tyre pressure make much more difference to speed than any frame out there.

These Industry mouthpieces to fund their channel. You get occasional word of wisdom but it is usually a Ad in its main content.

These youtube commentators started sharing their positive experience with gear which is well priced, so much so, most would believe the products are no good, yet they are. As someone that has also experimented with chinese parts and have had excellent results, I cant disagree with them. I dont understand the rant against them.

The man in the video used to inspire me when I started cycling from scratch in June 2023. However, as I continued watching his videos, I lost interest because they seemed to lose substance over time. I just listened to this while cleaning the house and replayed it to comment this out.

You seem to completely miss the 10t a 48t & 10t combination at 90 cadence gives you a speed of 34mph . Compare this to a standard crank 53t and a more conventional 11t at 90 cadence this gives you 34.1mph. So the 48/10 combo should satisfy everyone who isn’t on the juice.

Pretty far off the mark and no new information tbh. The Colnago factory is still in Italy as it always was, for the past 20 years the Colnago monocoques have been designed in Italy but manufactured in Asia. The Colnago ‘C’ series is still entirely made in Italy as is the steel Master.

So many celebrities get caught and sent to prison, get out, and move on to get even richer. What's the deterrent to crime anymore? To comment on the shoes, Adidas sell the same shoe for $160 US.

While I also do not like asian mass production frames and certainly will not buy one, I also do not see much of a loss in these two brands folding. The reason is, that these brands were not the MANUFACTURERS of the bikes. The manufacturers very likely still exist and are producing the same or very similar bikes under their own brands, likely at an even at a smaller price point. In Italy alone, there are still dozens of small workshops making their frames made to measure at pricepoints competitive to the chinese carbon frames. And even in Great Britain such workshops still exist. You just have to search a little...

I guess it's a combination of things, but I think this has happened across other industries as well, and it's the natural consequence of the evolution of Capitalism in Western countries: - The search for increased profits is not based anymore on increased output, but on intensifying the profitability of a given product: either make production cheaper (China, cheaper materials, less material, etc.), or sell overpriced stuff through massive marketing and sales operations, about which this channel has spoken up extensively. - Related to the above: Planned obsolescence. Making things to last just isn't profitable enough anymore, when competitors are selling products that are better in the short term, but won't last long, they can cut corners on materials choice, mechanical strength, serviceability... the case of smartphones with batteries that aren't meant to be easily replaced is typical. - Also related to the above: fucking LEAN manufacturing philosophy: minimise costs, minimise stock, minimise time. When there's competition tightening everyone's margins, something has to give. In the case of bike industry, the usual victims are durability and quality assurance. - Indirectly also: the polarisation of wealth, with the richest people accumulating more and more wealth, the market for mid-level products is shrinking, so that only entry-level and top-level products sell well. This is why you can have at the same time the 2022 great inflation, the market overall shrinking since the end of the covid lockdowns, and yet top brands keep churning out the latest flagship models that aren't any better than last year's, but rich mamils will keep buying them.

Hi, I have a question about the whole wide/narrower tyre story. If you go to bicyclerollingresistance, they have done entire batteries of tests on certain same model tyres with different width (e.g. for Conti GP5000 in 23/25/28/32mm). Their rolling resistance data show that all tyre widths show almost exactly the same results, as long as they're pumped up to what they called the 'same comfort level', that is, same tyre deflection in mm under the same load. Of course that means wider tyres must be run at lower pressures, which is what sane people will do. While not faster, wider tyres certainly don't look any slower than narrower ones, at least purely due to rolling resistance. So, are they not doing something right? It's never looked to me like they're not honest about their testing. Or am I missing something else here? I actually don't get the hate against Cade Media. Like their format or their personalities or not, but they are putting out a lot of content with affordable bikes like Decathlon or recently Cube instead of overpriced super bikes. Of course they are sponsored, but they are very open and transparent about it. I'm not a big fan of "Bikefitjames" or their mechanics guy, but one can just skip that...

Well said, I think the bike manufacturers and some of the industry needs and deserves an ear full. Introducing high price, high tech that the average cyclist doesn't need and planning obsolescence for the products that serve them well in order to maybe make a buck but looks like it has backfired and is actually losing people their jobs
