how do you control Humidity and temperature drops
@ReefDrama23 сағат бұрын
Hi, I've got a Humidistat Fan that will be installed in the top corner on one end, and the other end down low will have a passive vent ducted under the kitchen cabinet and the inside vent fitted on the kickplate. Also, I've got the windows I can open. As for temperature, I have a temperature sensor controlled radiator, and each tank will also have its own heater in. As a backup, I've got a WIFI smart Temp/Humidity sensor that will turn on freestanding fans in the summer if required and it can alert me if the temperature or humidity goes beyond my preset limits either too high or too low. Worse case scenario fit air-conditioning when I can afford it. If you have any other suggestions or recommendations, then I'd love to hear them. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀

How about painting the floor with rubber paint to protect it…. And clad the walls around the bottom with waterproof panels to make a wet room for the lower part. Any spills, no problem.
@ReefDrama2 ай бұрын
Hey, that's not a bad idea for the floor. The walls I'm kinda planning something similar. My current plan for the floor is on top of the marine ply I'm putting lengths of 25mm batons from front to back with 2.4m x 600 x 25mm Celotex PIR Insulation inbetween. On top of that, there will be 12mm waterproof laminate flooring. I guess I could paint the rubber paint on the marine ply 1st 🤔 I know 25mm insulation on the floor isn't much, but this is for inside of the building and at least its something without making the laminate flooring come up above the double door threshold. Next year on the outside, underneath, I'm looking at trying to fit 100mm PIR Insulation in between the galvanised steel frame. Although getting under the right-hand side of the building will be very problematic !! The walls I'm having 12mm ply fitted but not all the way to the floor (an inch or so above the laminate). On top of the ply, all round top to bottom will be the plastic bathroom panels, so it will be easy to keep clean and wipe down. What do you think of those ideas? I'm also debating installing a floor drain, but it's another potential draft and a creepy crawley highway inside !! Lol. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
@chrisallan-lancashirereef51302 ай бұрын
Why rtf diameter to then upgrade to 6 x 4…. Go straight to 6 x 4….. you’ll also gain an extra foot when you enter.
@ReefDrama2 ай бұрын
Hi, I believe the company supplying normally puts a 6x2 across the length of the roof in the middle for support on the larger buildings. This would be an issue for the cold roof that I wanted. I did want additional support, so I opted for front to back alongside the normal 4x2's. The ends of the 6x2's have been cut down, so they sit at the same height as the 4x2's. Thought it was a good idea. I'm not sure if I could have the roof any higher due to permitted development and having to be within 2.5m high. Is it possible I could have done what you suggested but this option wasn't given to me when I ordered the building. If I ever do it again, then at least I will know and learn from this build 😀 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀

I don't understand continuous heating it comes on 6 I put mine on 24 what happens after 24 hrs does it switch it all off
@ReefDrama2 ай бұрын
Hi, the continuous heating set time is there to let you know that your setpoint temperature can't be reached. It will trigger the E5 alarm, and yes, it will stop heating. You would then need to reset it to start the heating process again. Sometimes, this is because your heaters aren't powerful enough for the amount of water volume. What are your T1 and T2 set to? Is it struggling to heat your tank? Thanks for supporting my channel 😀

Thanks for the video. I just set up the same model inkbird. I have the temp settings at 71 and 73, but my tank wont go any lower than 76. I'm confused. I've got an accurate thermometer in the tank, so I've calibrated the inkbird from that. It's been set up for 3 days and i can't get the temp to drop (my house is 70 degrees)... Any thoughts?
@ReefDrama3 ай бұрын
Hi, I'm glad you found the video helpful. So you have the twin heating version like mine, not the heating and cooling version? Im guessing if your tank is 76, then the Inkbird hasnt turned on both the heaters? Where are your temperature sensors placed? What temperature have you set you heaters at? I usually have mine set a couple of degrees higher, so just in case the Inkbird fails, then the heaters won't continue on and cook your fish. It is strange if your house is 70, then I wouldn't have thought the tank water would be much higher although obviously depending on what lights, return pump etc you have, they will all give off additional heat. Just make sure the Inkbird settings are correct and one of your heaters isn't actually on. Otherwise, so long as the temperature doesn't drop, then enjoy free heating and cheaper electricity bills 😀 Just keep monitoring it. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀

Respect the honesty and transparency. I don't think it's necessarily your fault really, we would all do the same. I never quarantine. I never had issues either. My blue tang and fox face had white spots for a bit but went away on its own. Only time I treated the tank is when my fanged blenny hit its head and got infected. I dosed anti-fungal and anti-bacterial stuff to the tank and didn't save the little guy. However, I made my skimmer unusable for 3 months with that stupid medication. Therefore I made more harm with the treatment. Next time I see any parasite, I will give ground ginger (the one intended for cooking) dosing a go. Seen it in a few videos then I did a search on actual, credible research on google scholar and found some research articles proving its effectiveness. Apparently ground ginger has some chemical features that inhibit the reproduction of ich for example. Unsure if it works for other things or not. I do find it weird though that all this started when you were away. Very very suspicious coincidence. I would most definitely investigate what changed while you were away that could have triggered this event. Like were they not fed in the meanwhile and maybe aggression, hunger broke out leading to stress and micro injuries that gave advantage to infections? Or did parameters change unnoticeably that promote infectious diseases? I'd literally look at anything that you changed before going away no matter how insignificant it seems. For example there is a youtuber who lost a lot of corals and just didn't get it why as everything seemed normal. He went weeks trying to investigate until he realised he made a silly mistake by opening the file of an older ICP test result instead of the new one and one harmful chemical was dangerous level. This chemical was leaching from the PVC pipes of the chiller he connected to the tank (not quite the PVC pipe, but the residue that was present on it from the manufacturing process). It just kind of shows that sometimes we overlook things.

I love Copper Power! Seems gentle on fish. The Hanna tester is a must, IMO. I like to ramp mine up like you did, but I try to stay close to the 2.5 level. I use an online calculator from Calculator Academy. Those calculators make maintaining the proper level so much easier. I tend to just go for 30+ days at therapeutic levels, then I actually switch to two doses of PraziPro. The only thing this video lacked, which almost all quarantine videos do… Is how to get the fish from the copper treated water, back to the display! I just acclimate like I would a new fish in a bucket… and in a separate bucket, I have display tank water only for a final rinse. No water goes from bucket to bucket or from bucket to the display. Good video.
@ReefDrama3 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks Kevin 😀 Yeah I agree Copper Power and the Hanna Checker combo is a must. I only really had to ramp up slowly and then start the date process once I hit the therapeutic level because of my Porcupine Puffer. Otherwise, you could probably get it to 2.5 straight away. Those calculators are very handy. Can't remember the name of the one I used now. As for getting the fish back in the display, I think I just wanted it to be as stress free as possible for both me and the fish, which I probably why I didn't video it 🙃 Not sure I even remember how I did it, unless I mentioned it in the video. Definitely don't want any QT water going into the DT as you quite rightly say. What you're doing sounds perfect to me 😀 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀

One thing that concerns me with this type of structure is whether it might experience excessive vibrations, for example, if a heavy object is dropped or from jumping. I’ve seen videos where even the movement of people inside causes a glass of water to spill. Could this be an issue?
@ReefDrama3 ай бұрын
Hi, I don't think there will be any issues with vibration or jumping with the galvanised steel base. I do, however, have 2x 18mm Marine Ply Sheets for the main floor before the insulation and laminate flooring go down. These 2 Marine Ply Sheets have already been screwed together, but I will be adding a lot more screws just to take out any bounce or shakes, etc. Good point, though 👍 Thanks for supporting my channel 😀

Hi, thanks for your suggestion. Yes, the electrician is coming in 1st, then I've got the insulation, Vapour Barrier, and internal walls/ ceiling to do. Hopefully, it will be a clean job 🤞 That's the look I'm going for anyway 😀 The Galvanised Steel Base was for a couple of reasons. 1. I think it would have cost a lot to excavate the ground to make it flat and then put in a concrete pad. 2. Will get a nice bit of air flow underneath, so it will prevent rotting and potentially sitting in pools of water on a concrete pad. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
