ANY 'street band' with the bo**OX to tackle ANY of Jelly's masterpieces truly deserves a huge plaudit. TS aren't just ANY street band though. (We/I tried diligently for YEARS....believe me, it's like musical 'Shakespeare'...seems SO easy but ain't!)

Great this recording seems on their latest album. Tuba Skinny at d.b.a. 🎉 I am glad they put such classics of their repertoire on their album e.g. Cushion Foot Stomp, My Walking Stick and Them things got me. The audio of your video is superb and the video is terrific too. Thanks a lot. 🙏🤗🫶👌

Thank you so much for another awesome video. I get more and more a fan of Secret Six Jazz Band. The washboard solo by Dizzy aka. Defne is a extra highlight for me. Nice greetings from Germany Dave.

Many thanks, kassiniru. This lovely, uncomplicated 32-bar Canadian song works well with most bands. But, as usual, the very fine Secret Six complement it with their superb playing and ideas - the simple statement of the first chorus, the fluent ensemble choruses, the exemplary banjo and Dizzy solo choruses, and the trombone-clarinet duet chorus.

New Orleans Jazz in Perfection. 🎉🔝✨🏆🪄 So enjoyable and fresh. Thank you so much for all these great videos. The piano player is amazing. It reminds me on the performance of Billie DePierce and her husband and Emile Barnes in the 1950s.

Many thanks, kassiniru. It's quite an undertaking for a trio to play such a complex and strenuous piece as 'Deep Henderson'. However, it's clear that Shaye and Craig have complete confidence after playing it so many times with Tuba Skinny.

Many thanks for this treat, kassiniru; and congratulations on your clever improvisation - without missing a beat - in using the slides. I'm not sure about the 'interesting move' by Shaye at 00:45, to which you refer. Isn't she just getting her grip on the cornet more comfortable by moving a couple of fingers?

I think that in this band it isn't one person who keeps the others, but they all keep each other together from the beginning, that's the secret
@terrulian5 ай бұрын
@@jouli_rew I think Erika also played(s) a big role. But no matter who gets the credit, it's amazing and very rarely matched when you think of other popular groups.

How awesome that you filmed Secret Six on French Quarter Festival this year too. They are awesome with so many fantastic New Orleans like Haruka and Dizzy from Shake Em Up Jazz Band or Nathan Wolman. The banjo player is Hunter Burgamy I think so. Last year Craig Flory played with Secret Six too. Thank you so much for all these marvelous videos. 🫶

Thank you so much, kassiniru. Such a treat for those of us too old and infirm to get to New Orleans any more. Even with very slight changes of personnel, this band is so good. Played in the key of A flat, I note, which seems comfortable, especially for the vocal, though I think bands usually play it in B flat.

'Oriental Strut' without a trombone? So who would play the theme that is conventionally led by the trombone when it arrives at 00:53? Shaye, of course.
