This zoo is very special. This zoo was the dream of the six year old boy Gerald. RIP

I went to Jersey last month, June 2024, for 5 days during the school holidays, only because the flight was very cheap whereas most flights to the Mediterranean were very pricey. It didn't impress me much, there isn't in my opinion anything unique that should draw people back, everthing is pricier than in the UK, including (and annoyingly) groceries. We had 3 days of rain out of 5. The landscapes and the beaches are very similar to what you would find in, say, Devon or Cornwall, so if you want to go to Jersey to tick it off your bucket list, then do go, otherwise save yourself the hassle and go to the aforementioned Devon/Cornwall. The only really unique features are the local Jersey Pound, the Jersey milk & the Jersey potatoes (both of which are readily available in the UK at a cheaper price) and the island status, i.e. it's a self-governing British Crown Dependency but it's not part of the UK.

As a Kid in 1982 I watched Bergerac here on Dutch television, I was always fascinated by how beautiful that Island is, the historical parts,fortress, tiny fishermans villages etc...now 40 years later I'm still very interested in Jersey and I will visit Jersey one day, rent e-bike and drive around the Island, also looking for Bergerac filming locations haha. Cheers from the Netherlands

Back in the summer season of 1961 I enjoyed Portlet beach every day. Interesting to see all those rocks. In those days only soft sugar sand. Must have been some powerful storms since then eh?

I newly discovered this island after watching a movie called "Under the Greenwood Tree" based on a Thomas Hardy novel. The movie was fantastic and the setting seemed so idyllic!

Been to jersey many times, once for a holiday in 1970s. The rest with Royal Navy, we pulled in to refuel quite a lot from porstsmoth or shoreham bases. Always welcomed by locals, mostly at st hellier but other places too.

It used to be a real magical destination. Gone is the busy airport, many hotels, daytime activities, nightlife, and above all else it's crazily expensive ! Once a tax free haven, its now more expensive than London.
@AdventuresinJersey Жыл бұрын
Not sure about that. We did a holiday to London at Easter and it was more expensive than Disneyland. There's certainly some things more expensive than UK (taxis for example) however there's such variety in a small space, and you have huge scope for activities that cost nothing at all.

I last visited Jersey in the 1990s with my late mother when I was a kid. We both loved it! I hope there are still lots of regular fish'n'chips joints for the average person with available takeaway?

There's loads of amazing fish and chips available, all over the island. Seafood is one of Jersey's best assets, as you'll remember well, no doubt!

Hi John, honestly we don't remember, but as with most things it's about timing and availability. I think we took advantage of an offer for an off-peak time, so the site wasn't that busy an we had plenty of space.

Love the bay, hate the pale green British style victorian fence railings like Brighton, its no Europe. Europe has much modern mirror style, silver fences not victorian. Plus European ice cream is of the Gelato type. I choose Europe.
@AdventuresinJersey Жыл бұрын
Not sure if any of the other bays have these railings. Jersey Diary ice-cream can give any European alternative a good run for it's money though!

Hello 😇 awesome video I might plan to go to Jersey 😃 Could you tell me if in the island we smell the pollution from the trafic please 😊 Take Care Anaïs
@AdventuresinJersey Жыл бұрын
Generally speaking, the levels of pollution here are exceptionally low. Even in the main town, traffic and emissions in comparison to UK towns and cities are negligible. The sea and country air is so good for the soul! Thanks for watching our videos 😃
