I moved to Trenton in 1990 with my family, my stepfather was in the military. Belleville was my stomping ground. I know it like the back of my hand. I moved to Toronto in 1998 to attend college/university. I haven't been back since. Nice documentary. Oh, the memories....

Thank you for these videos. You have covered all of the cities and towns of interest to me in my upcoming visit to Bogota, as well as a significant amount of history. I thank you, sincerely, for your endeavor and documentation.

The surrounding is much more beautiful than the city itself. I only see boring architecture.

I really enjoyed this video (it may not be recent, but I find it interesting). Very informative (and you have a very soothing voice). 🙂 I have a question: What do you know about safety, in Xalapa, or the rest of Veracruz? Here in Jalisco, there’s a lot of kidnappings (and crime, in general, is also a big problem). So, I’m really looking for a new place to live in Mexico. It’s sad how, while inquiring about life in a new place, the first thing I now always ask is, “safety.” I am not an expat. I’m just a “bilingual Mexican,” who doesn’t make money in dollars or euros, but that wants to start a new quiet life, in a safe/affordable place, with decent climate (I hate hot weather). So far, Xalapa really rings a bell (there’s something about it, that I really like). So does Orizaba, but I wonder if Orizaba being more “touristy” might be more expensive, and noisy (it looks expensive). All the same. Thanks for this video. Keep up the good work. Saludos, amigos Veracruzanos. Subscribed. 🙋🏻♂️🇲🇽

@@HumoftheEarthThanks for your reply. I watched that video before commenting here (I forgot to mention that). The locals just mention areas to avoid, but they don’t say anything about kidnappings. I checked on line, and the sources, just contradict themselves. So, I don’t know. All I know, is that, sadly, Mexico might just be unsafe, everywhere, for us, nationals. Maybe some cities (or states) are a little “better.” Thanks anyway. I really like this channel. Keep up the good work.

😊 Bravo! I resided in LA ❤ VIRGINIA 5 decades ago. It's much bigger now and much has changed. But, allow me to add a personal perspective: 🥰 ➡️✝️ I lived there for nearly 2 years. I worked at the Comité de Cafeteros. Most importantly, I lived with a large family, Los Hincapié, and I made friends with lots of townspeople as well as farming families up in the 'veredas.' As sincerely as my heart and soul will attest to, my time in La Virginia was the happiest era in my life and the reason for this is simple: the COLOMBIAN PEOPLE. This is not a cliché in any sense. My Risaraldense family and all my friends allowed me into their lives, and I frequently reminisce over their kindness and humanity. In addition to my job in agriculture, I gave English classes at night in the church classrooms, thanks to the nuns...(and their jugo de maracuyá between classes)... the children painted a smile on me that has never disappeared. And my wonderful landlady (my Colombian mom), Doña Teresa, was an angel. When I do reminisce over my travels (Colombia, México and the UAE), she is always the focus. God bless Colombia 🇨🇴 ... ... a deeply grateful man from the U.S. ❤

You screwed your self from getting a second date but she was probably just going to use you for dinero sometime down the road so it’s not a loss. She was above you in looks so you were probably going to be in a transactional relationship anyways.

I'm retired and live in Pereira 6 months a year. Pereira people are paisas that moved to Pereira. I feel safe , affordable living , people are very nice , the city has everything, but in terms of tourism not much but you can go to the bus terminal and visit other towns, and coffee regions. Hopefully it doesn't become another Medellin, cause it's safe .

So so long as you are being vigilant and cautious have a good one. Also not getting involved in activities or going to places where you would run into cartels. You should be relatively safe right? My hometown in the United States has a very high homicide rate, but you never really any see anyone saying don't travel there. Not that the cartels aren't dangerous and that there isn't violent crime but that doesn't fully represent the city or the people that live in it. I think people should go visit this city
