Yes, you are correct, Photoshop no longer has the same 3D functionality it previously did. The good news is, since this video came out, there has been a lot of advancements in 3d modeling and rendering with other software that makes these Photoshop tools antiquated.

That guy looks like a tool from a bad 80's cop sitcom. What's his name? Dusty ‘Ricochet’ O’Sullivan?

@pleasantvalleytomorrow Жыл бұрын
I wasn't inspired by 1980's cop sitcoms, but the character is suppose to have that quality to them to a certain degree. I was inspired by some other media, which I will just keep to myself, not to offend anyone, and you will have to wait to my next cartoon to see how they are used!

once you have saved the screen shot, open Illustrator and use File/Place. Select the file you just saved and click for the size and location of the image.

I'm using latest version of PS 2023 and there's no grass preset on mine. Love that you've done the video thank you, but I find that rarely does my set up match the ones in all these youtube videos people put up. Think I'm in the Twilight zone. Realise this is an old video and Adobe love to fiddle with things that work and then they get lost in new versions.

Ain't it much faster if you use the magic wand tool?
@michaeltweed5192
@michaeltweed5192 Жыл бұрын
That's a good question. There are always multiple ways to do most things in adobe software. While there are faster ways to fill a floor plan than the way I do so here, the reason I selected this method for this video are two fold. (Speed was not one of the things I was concerned about.) The fastest way to do this would probably be using live paint. The problem with live paint is that the shapes they create are not as flexible as regularly drawn objects. Meaning you can't use many of the other tools on them without first converting them into regular shapes. While you can turn live paint into standard objects, you have to go through a few steps to do so. I myself may choose to do it this way. However, these videos are made for specific assignments for a class. I find that students will not go through these extra steps and as such end up limiting themselves, at least in early assignments such as this. Which is the root of the second reason for doing it this way. This assignment is to teach students how to us Illustrator, and learning how to draw your own shapes is important. Learning how the Pen tool works is key to using Illustrator well. As a practice introduction assignment I find the method I use in this video to be ideal. However, if you are comfortable doing the task another way, I encourage you to use that method or experiment with any other method that works.

Why did you type 200' ? Was there any reason behind it. Please clarify
@michaeltweed5192
@michaeltweed5192 Жыл бұрын
I used 200' because to set the scale of the drawing. In AutoCad, I set the image to full scale, but to print it out, it needs to be reduced. I knew in this case that 1"=200' was the scale that worked for my drawing, but the scale would change based on many factors including project size and paper size. Also, incase this was the issue, I teach in the U.S. so we use the feet and inch system. If you are working in metric, you can certainly do the same thing at your own metric scale.
@jaffersyed408
@jaffersyed408 Жыл бұрын
@@michaeltweed5192 that would mean I can set any scale in the plot manager (i.e. 1 in 200 even if I'm working in a metric scale) ?
