when SC why dont you use the compressor ? you SC with gaain automation on utility, any particular reason ?
@AndrewNitts18 күн бұрын
Yes, there is a reason. I used to always rely on Ableton's compressor. But one day, I realized that I lacked control over attack and release. That’s when I started using LFO Tool. This plugin controls the volume envelope, allowing me to customize it individually for each track and find the envelope shape that provides the desired groove. When you use a compressor for this, the signal's volume changes depending on the incoming signal from the kick. The Gain parameter in Utility serves as an alternative to the LFO Tool plugin. It allows me to create a ducking effect independently of the kick. For mid and high-frequency instruments, I use sidechain compression. However, with low frequencies, I need maximum control, so I manually automate the Gain parameter in Utility.
@rakshiththyagaraj716218 күн бұрын
@@AndrewNitts thanks for the reply mate, but the stock ableton compressor has the attack and release nob in it right? or do you feel like you want more control than the predefined ones
@AndrewNitts18 күн бұрын
The Ableton compressor has attack and release settings that allow you to control the ducking effect. I use it, for example, with 16th-note shakers. In the case of the bass, I need the ducking effect to activate before the transient of the kick appears. In other words, the bass volume decreases first, and then the kick plays.

Where did those sample packs come from?
@AndrewNittsАй бұрын
This is my original sample pack. Coming soon on patreon. It contains 100 different loops, with different textures, timbres and rhythms. For this method of creating a synth, you can use any available sound, for example from the ableton library. The main thing is to find a sweat spot.

I like to do this but slightly differently. If you create midi tracks instead of audio for each sound you can add a drum rack with ext instrument. Route the ext instrument to the Drumazon plugin and choose the relevant track. This way you can program each instrument in its own channel from push. I also programmed all drumazon’s knobs into macros on the push. I must make a video

Сайдчейн не делаешь?
@AndrewNitts2 ай бұрын

When you are layering the kick, from where are you getting the values for the layers when EQ'ing? Is it related to the root note of the kick sub or is it random/from experience?
@AndrewNitts2 ай бұрын
I use tonal balance control from izotop. It is divided into four ranges. For kick, the dominant range is "low", then gradually decreases to high. I go through a lot of one shots to make a kick that will have punch and clean low-mid range. In the video I do not show this process, i only recreate a ready-made template. Usually, it takes me 30 to 60 minutes to do a kick this way. When all the track elements are added, I can modify the kick to remove conflict, adjust frequency balance, or add transient. I can only select a note for the kicka sub component, below 80hz. Yes, it comes with experience, after many attempts. I listen to a lot of one shots, and from each I choose the frequency range that I need.

@ right, it came to my mind that you were recreating something you made earlier, it still is very useful. Thank you

Hi Andrew. Just wanted to say thank you for these videos. I'm a bit guilty like a lot of people of watching too many tutorial videos, but eventually I can't recall what had been well explained in every detail later. With your videos I keep asking myself why does he do this? Why does it work?. Since I have to do the thinking myself, I can recall better once I sit myself in front of my DAW so I personally get more out of this video format. Another plus for me is that you stick to stock plugins. Really appeeciate what you're doing. Keep it up and best of success!
