Really love this concept. I've gotten stuck watching tutorials. They show me how to make something, but not the idea I have in my head. Constraints have been my downfall, so practicing this will help me so much!! Thank you so much!!

This is meant for beginners, but honestly it's good practice and feels like solving mini puzzles, so it's not wasted effort to maybe grab a more complex drawing and try to replicate it.

@@RobDuarte After drawing the slot you set an angle of 30 degrees to a construction line passing thru the right hole center, but you couldn't set the angle of the construction line to the line passing thru the two holes. I was agreeing that that angle is not specified in the drawing. BTW, I loved how that shape came together as you specified each dimension.😁

I would probably take the simple route: make a circular pattern of 12 points, then draw a horizontal sketch curve centered on each point.

Thanks for this video! I am wondering how it is possible that two different dresses do not interact with each other, and also whether they can snap back to their initial positions if we want to put them back where they were.
@RobDuarte
@RobDuarte 2 ай бұрын
Getting the clothes to not interact with each other is as simple as adding `jacket.overlaps(dress)` at the end of the setup() function. You can have them snap in positions other than the doll by essentially duplicating the if statement that determines whether the object should snap to the doll (using the dist() function) and giving it a different set of coordinates for its "home" position. It might look something like: if (dist(dress.x, dress.y, dressHome.x, dressHome.y) < 20) ... good luck!

Hi Rob where can i download the library?
@RobDuarte
@RobDuarte 4 ай бұрын
Oof this is an old video that I posted for archival purposes. It looks like that library maybe long dead. Hopefully there's something that replaces it. I know there was always a second midi library that people used with processing - maybe that one is still alive. If neither is the case, I think you would have to look for a Java library instead. I use p5.js with my students nowadays and webmidi works great. Here is a template repo that I made to get people started with p5 and WebMidi... github.com/FSUdigitalmedia/p5js_webmidi

TYSM! I've been looking forever for how to use *both* variables and items to set a condition such as having two items in inventory, but only being able to move forward if [variable name] is also true at the same time. I haven't understood a way to combine that all into one string so I'm going to try this branching within the branch method~!

@RobDuarte I tried all ways and can not figure out how to rotate the top hexagon :(
@RobDuarte
@RobDuarte 7 ай бұрын
@@taurruth Well, I just followed this (6 years old) video and all three demos worked as shown. The only difference is that I had to look at the form from the top view when rotating - to make sure that it rotates along the correct axis. It's a trivial detail for software that has evolved a lot since this video was posted. I would recommend practicing and assuming that there's some solution (probably several) to whatever problem you're experiencing - following my videos or anyone else in a rote fashion and stopping when something doesn't work exactly as shown is not a great way to learn this stuff. The details of the software change (especially in 6 years) but the basics stay the same.

@@RobDuarte I am not stating that your tutorial is wrong. My point is that I am so new to Fusion 360 that I have no idea how to rotate a plane like you did in 4:21 or rotate a sketch like in 2:15. It may be obvious to you so you haven't told what you press to do it, but I have no idea how to do it. Maybe it is covered by another of your tutorials? If yes can you link it?
@RobDuarte
@RobDuarte 7 ай бұрын
Thanks for giving more information about where you are having trouble. At both of those points, I'm just clicking a point and dragging it. If it drags in the wrong direction, you can switch to a different view first (in this case, the Top View).
