Judging by the original air date of Jan 11, 1998, I'm guessing this was made sometime in 1997.. John died March 2001 , and Denny Doherty , "One of his last appearances was in the Canadian TV series Trailer Park Boys, Season 7 Episode 10 (season finale) as FBI Special Agent Ryan Shockneck. Filming was completed just shortly before his death in early 2007 and the end credits dedicate the episode to him". <--wikipedia and we just hit 50 years since Mama Cass died July 29th 1974 @ age 32....

I like that Jackie points out that they were kids. All the fighting and drama that happened was when they were kids. She doesn't know what they're like now. They were a group of young girls thrown together into chaos. They were ambitious but didnt really know what they were doing. And they were exploited and manipulated by the people who were supposed to protect them.

Somebody mentioned that Joan had erratic behavior that caused a lot of people in the audience to leave during this show. Did you notice anything weird about her during this show? Because I can’t imagine what she did that made people leave. Or was that person lying?

Smaller drums, at least to me, seem unfairly maligned. My old kit was a Pearl Forum kit and the rack toms were huge, deep, 12-13” toms. My new DW kit has 10-12” toms which are shallower. In my opinion, the smaller toms seem to be way easier to tune than the bigger ones. And I have a problem finding the perfect tuning for my 13” tom. So yeah, I’m gonna stick with the smaller toms. The floor toms are the same width at 16”, but my DW one is 14” deep. And yet, I think I can get a better sound out of it.

it's hard to grow accustomed to the skill & accuracy of hard-working, talented, drummers (past and present) like Vinnie Colaiuta, Buddy Rich, Joe Morello, Jeff Porcaro, Simon Phillips, Weckl--and 100 other Weckl-wanabees who also play amazing, spectacular, accurate, and musical--and then listen to entertainers like this carry on about musicianship... i'm sorry, but come on dude. his timing (not the rhythms and offbeats, which are fine) is all over the place. his spacing is inconsistent, his hits are often rushed, then lagged coming back to the groove...

I think you’re misinterpreting what he’s saying, and Jason wasn’t very clear anyway What I believe he was saying was how Phil, who is an amazing drummer, has utilised effects as a way of enhancing his fills. And here’s an example of a simple fill and how clever use of effects turns it into something memorable and ear-catching! Of a 2014 meeting Jason said “We got together for three weeks and I had an amazing time,” the song of Led Zep’s late John Bonham tells Billboard. “It was an honor to be chosen by one of my real heroes. Other than my dad I would say Phil is probably my No. 2 guy to go to. I”ve been a huge fan since Abacab, and then of course his solo stuff. It was like playing in front of my dad - another moment that felt like you’re playing in front of your dad in the weirdest kind of way. You’re playing in front of your heroes. My wife just kept telling me, ‘Don’t keep looking for approval. He’s hired you. He knows what you can do. Just give him your best.’ I had such a good time with it.”

@@tombstoneharrystudios584I beg your pardon, I actually was in the middle of writing a riposte when I decided to listen back another few times. I agree, you are correct, I initially thought he said "even though he isn't the most talented drummer" but I actually think he says "is" on reflection. In which case, he is out of the woods! :D
