That’s a nice harvest. You could stagger your growing and harvesting next year, by planting some late potatoes..sometimes called Christmas potatoes..but think my late ones will be ready by mid November. If you plant early ones as well, you can use the bags/ buckets and some of the compost then to plant the late potatoes.

I had one here in Australia in a cold temperate area and seriously the poly panels didnt last any more than 5 years. After then they were useless. They all disintegrated because of the UV.

Very interesting indeed, Tomasz! 😃 Looking forward to see how it goes! My parents used to plant potatoes on the farm and yes, there's a big difference between "normal" potatoes and seeds. The seeds are planted in a much more controlled environment and they only allow the best plants to grow. Then they select between what they harvested and the process begins again... Really interesting process! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Really fantastic work, Tomasz! Your plants are definitely going to love it! 😃 The only issue with this technique is for carrots... They need deep soft soil. But for everything else you're good to go! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
@CasualGardeningandCooking6 ай бұрын
The soil I used to initially fill my beds was nice soft and fluffy and after 3 seasons still is the same. Had good carrot harvests so far but what I struggled with was root parsley. Hopefully they will grow better this year. By beds are about 25cm deep and they have no bottoms.

Nice to see how you layer the beds with the different ingredients. If you are using the non dig method, would you scrape off the top layer next year before adding the different layers?

sorry, maybe i didn't listen correctly but how long did it take for your seedlings to develop 2 leaves? and one further question related to watering the plants from underneath: is there a way to f this one up? like, do you do you measure the amount of water beforehand or is it fine to have some access water left at the end, that the soil just couldn't soak up?
@CasualGardeningandCooking6 ай бұрын
The seeds germinated within 10 day, then the true leaves appeared about 3 weeks from sowing. All depends on the veg type and conditions. You can f the watering. As you can have too much water or too little. I use trays to start my seedlings, and I always fill the bottom holding tray to almost full of water and let the soil soak in the water for about 20-30 minutes. Then all the water that is in the bottom tray is removed. You don't want standing water as that could lead to diseases development or just rot. The soil on the top needs to moist not wet. Also not bone dry. Depending on conditions, type and size of plant I usually water them every 2-3 days.
