Loved this review. Wall of text inbound. As a LM currently running a campaign thats at 12 sessions (we are playing through Tales from the Lone Lands), I agree with a lot of what was said. I'm on the same wavelength as Brian, the authors of the TOR 2e books are true Tolkien fans. I would like to add to the points about journeys. I have a lot to say about them, but I'll keep it brief. I love the fatigue system, no other RPG I've played gets the struggles of traveling the wilderness across as well from a mechanical POV. It got my players involved in travel in a way that my previous campaigns did not. My main issue is the repetetive nature when running it out of the book. It works excellently when traveling short distances. However long distances cause problems unless you modify things, and they don't have much in the way of player agency, you just have them roll and say what happens to their character. One time my players were traveling from the Blue Mountains to the North Downs, to a place they didn't have exact coordinates to. This is a really long journey in reality, hundreds of miles. Lots of adventure can happen in between. But Journey events are really hard to improvise into something like the "Journey Events" that happen in the Hobbit. I ended up curating lists of Journey Events that involved more player choice than just a basic die roll and this helped tremendously; but it came at the cost of a lot of legwork on my end. Moria seems to address this with their improved encounter systems. If I could ask Free League for any supplement, it would be an expanded "Adventures on the Road" type of book, full of exciting, player choice filled encounters to have in all the different areas of Eriador.

My dad is a Vietnam veteran. As strange as it sounds. Stripping uniforms off of dead enemy soldiers is not uncommon. All of these things can be used for intelligence purposes. In Vietnam there was a special operations unit called MAC V SOG ( Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group). These men were made up feom U.S. Army Special Forces ( Green Berets ), U.S. Navy SEALs , U.S. Marine Force Recon troops. These men not only did black ops in Cambodia, Laos, and North Vietnam. But some of these units routinely used North Vietnamese equipment for missions.

So happy you enjoyed it and thank you for your positive feedback. It is an amazing game. Free League (Fria Ligan) really know how to produce quality and highly evocative role playing games.

Did "blood on the sand" get off the ground? I couldn't find a KZbin follow-up. I'd be very interested if so!

Thanks so much for sharing this! I’ll be running this for friends for Halloween this year! Would you be willing to share the names of the ambiance tracks and music that you used during this?
@infinitemonkeytalesАй бұрын
Hi, hope you have fun with the scenario! The music used during this game came from Dark Fantasy Studio (darkfantasystudio.com/) and TabletopRPGMusic (www.tabletoprpgmusic.com/). It's been a while, so can't remember the names of the actual tracks. Sorry!

Maybe y'all can refrain from eating or drinking with your mics on. Or maybe move them away from your mouths a bit. Episode one was great but the audio quality on this is unwatchable.

Wow, I was transported right away. So many recorded gaming sessions start with 20-30 minutes of sponsorship blabbing and random goofing off. This was so nice and refreshing to jump in to!

This is brilliant - I used the GW Judge Dredd RPG to run a Strontium Dog game and the rulebook suited it wonderfully. I had to add a lot of percentiles to the skills to make the PCs a bit more competent, as I did in my JD games, but it was a fast and fun system.

I have a theory............... That some or all of the Horticulturists (they are all drawn to the Natural world) where potential werewolves that hadnt changed yet and some one/thing found a way to detect it and use them some how to create corrupted Dog Demons things.......
