The Episcopal Church has a public confession of sin in their liturgy. But I can assure you, this does NOT produce a culture of repentance among leadership. There seems to be no answer to these problems.

Oh dear. Has NC Wright a stand on abortion? In our Catholic church we daily pray against the Scourge of Abortion. The Holy Innocents, martyrs, are the Unborn, and not the Gazans bombed by the thousands- which is never mentioned. -Sanctioned, perhaps!

What is NC Wright's thinking on mixed populations- multi culti, living and working in 'western empires'. We daren't oppress them with our crusader's cross. Neither must we- the nones.

I think what is sadly lacking in the church today, by the congregation, is discernment. The pastors say all the things they have been trained to say, to make themselves look good (instead of lifting up the Lord) and people fall for it hook, line and sinker, please people Wake Up, pastors do not replace Jesus, most are broken, fallen, sinful, fallible humans like the rest of us, to greater or lesser degrees please, pray for discernment!

I would also say that Christian nationalism is not Christian evangelicalism. There are a lot of evangelical Christians who may or may not be involved in government, but they don't push for a Christian agenda. I wonder if a form of Christian nationalism gave us alcohol prohibition in the 1920s. There was a very strong Christian revival at the beginning of the 20th century and also a very strong temperance movement that led to these prohibitions. I'm not a political or religious analyst so I'm only guessing here, but I'd be interested to know if that is true.

Thank you for this important and insightful conversation. It was so enriching to hear about development of Andy's thinking regarding the quadrants in Strong and Weak and the discussion of how they can play out in the life of a ministry leader.

Healthy people are able to be self reflective. The fact that a certain Pastor or leader doesn’t is the only clue you need to determine that he is not healthy.

I am still suffering the really detrimental effects of an email from a Christian woman who is leading a Christian ministry here in the UK, and who is a pastor's wife - her a Christian for 40 years, and in ministry for 30 years. In it she told outright untruths, and made deliberate wrong assumptions and very badly misjudged me. She has made no apology, or shown any regret, remorse, or empathy of any kind towards me. She sent this email, fully aware that I have been very lonely, isolated, have experienced abuse within several churches, and had recently been feeling suicidal. I find this deeply disturbing - that far too many of these people are esteemed so very highly, included in the secular world, AND that, on television, online in her ministry videos, she appears very sweet, sincere, and serious about the things of God. She has shown very clear signs of psychological and spiritual manipulation towards me also. And this is rampant, throughout the Church and Christian Ministries in so many places. I firmly believe that these people are dangerous. They can manipulate some people to such a degree that they are in such distress and turmoil, and want to take their own lives. This is my experience, and I am certain this applies to very many people. Be extremely careful who you trust. Don't open up to or make yourself wrongly vulnerable to anyone, without scrutinising them first. Wolves in sheeps clothing. And shepherds (pastors) gone rogue. I am staying well out of the Church for now. I just can't continue to allow this. The Church is extremely dangerous. Please - be careful.

Former pew packer here. Now I am a volunteer. I came prepared for the possibility of toxic situations at the very least. Some things I expected, and some other things I didn’t expect at all are happening. The thing I’m so thankful for is the guidance of the Holy Spirit, that’s helping me with conflict resolution, and avoiding being put in some other situations that could be really bad.

Just the thought of public school systems creating and mandating (forcing) Christian education in Public schools. I love teachers but should they be teaching life is repulsive to me. While every one has free will by a Most Powerful, Sovereign God, it's like saying, we will be your Christian Police against sin Jesus. So they chose this guy as leader with a doctrine of him being the chosen one, to lead a take over to "Christianefy" this Country... How uniblical and possibly an offense 🤷🏾♀️ to what Jesus has done for us, can you be idolotrist?

I am not a pastor, but I am a faithful United Methodist. I have multiple mental illness', and have dealt with mental disorders since I was a teen. I have not lived a completely "normal" life because of this, but I was able to work in health care and be active in church activities. I had to go on disability when I was in my 30"s due to a mental illness crisis. I receive medication, Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT), and more. For the most part, I don't share much with people I don't know, but it is hard for me (now in my 50's, with my husband being a teacher, who isn't bringing in the highest pay) to tell people I'm retired. I miss my career, a lot! I have received judgment from people. There are others who have no idea about it. I had a pastor judge me and remove me from multiple events by lying to me about what people were saying. He said it was inappropriate for a person "like me" to be involved. This pastor also set my "allowed" time I could talk to individual people between services and other places. If I' violated these instructions, I was called into his office. One Christmas Eve I was in the restroom and got chatting with another lady. When we stepped out, we were both looking for our husbands. We both leaned against the wall of a busy walkway for them to find us. In the meantime, we continued to chat. I saw the face of the associate pastor lean around the corner a few times. Our chatting was only because we were waiting and it went on for over 5 minutes until our husbands happened to walk in the same door together. I was called into the lead pastor's office before the New Year and was scolded about talking to the lady for more than the time I was allowed because of my mental problem. Then I was removed from a Bible Study, because I wasn't normal. I was removed from working with the youth group being told the youth director wanted me removed. (The director had just told me a few days before that he was glad I was there and that the kids loved me). There were many other things I was removed from, being told that someone had complained about me because of my illness. The last thing this pastor told me, caused my husband and me to leave the church I had been a member of for over 20 years. My husband and I were married at that church. I had volunteered in many areas, started an acolyte ministry for elementary kids, and more. All previous pastors appreciated me and what I did. Even the one who was there when I had to go on disability during my crisis worked to get me back into things. The final event I was involved in was the Bell Choir. (I'd already been removed from the Chancel Choir and everything else). This pastor told me that the director wanted me to leave the Bell Choir. At that time, my husband and I walked out the door. The next week I got a call from the Bell director wondering where I'd been. I told him what had happened. He was appalled! Then he quit! Suddenly, the Bell Choir had no director either. Sorry for long writing, but this is just some of what I've experienced from some in "Spiritual Leadership". Thank-you for doing this podcast. I believe it will help lead many people. Again, I miss having a "normal" life, but I've mostly accepted that having a mental illness is "my normal". It's not as accepted as people having cancer, heart problems, stroke, seizure disorders, arthritis, and many other health troubles. I have accepted that maybe I'll be part of having mental illness troubles (temporary or lifelong) become accepted, treated, and not feared, in the future. Thank-you for all you are doing. I'm not a pastor, but I am a woman of faith. God Bless You and Your Ministry!

Mr Wright seems not understand that the bible teaches that God will eventually destroy this world. 2nd Peter 3 verses 9-14. And that God is currently saving souls OUT OF this world as we speak, by the witnessing of the Gospel of Christ!!Galatians chapter 1 verse 4. And that the Kingdom of God is not of this world. 2nd Timothy chapter 2-verse 4! How can these so-called scholars not see these things?

I use to count and say, " I have been told 7 times now, that I was going straight to hell , if I supported and voted for our Democratic Gov. And I live in Ky where Andy Beshear is our Gov and a man of faith. He saved so many lives and spoke last night at Dem. Convention. Just the other day again, over what I thought was a nice discussion..Trump supporter not me. KIND AND SHE just told me her points on abortion and some links and Gay individuals.. Ending with if I voted for a Democrat, she didn't think a Christiam could do that.. " Oh, straight to hell again.." I'm 57 and never been told on my entire life that being or voting for a Democrat makes me go to hell.. That is so sad.. I know Jesus, I know my beliefs, We must all pray for discernment..
