Don't think I've ever played a Sabian splash that I didn't love, but the HHX are my favorites.

Lugs are garbage though. Broke 2 rim shot area lugs on the one I had. They are hollow cast. I was fortunate to find a replacement lug that I got shipped to the UK from Japan but the second one that broke I couldn't find a replacement and had to stick a starclassic lug on it. Sold it in the end. Only as strong as its weakest link.

Imo the more you like how your gear sounds, the more expressively you play, so I think it does have a lot of benefit. Finding your own sound doesn't just mean style, it means gear too. I agree no one else really cares tho 😅

I have the 20" crash, I'd like to get the 18 & 19, I wish they made a 22" fast crash too to use as a ride or a second ride with the 20".

I had a 19" AA Holy China and it sounded nothing like the one in this clip. It was from a couple years ago and it was extremely loud and didn't have much of a low-end trashy sound. I ended up selling it. I play mostly Sabian, but I'll incorporate other cymbals. Meinl is coming out with some tremendous sounding cymbals such as the Byz Duals. The only downside is that they are very expensive.
