It's so fun that you could read a cruise themed cozy on your cruise. I've always wondered about the Aloha Lagoon series. It's great to hear your thoughts on it. My favorite reads of July and August are Sniffing Out Murder by Kallie E Benjamin, Brie Careful What You Wish For by Linda Reilly, the Secrets of the Castleton Manor Library series, No Paw To Stand On by Laurie Cass, A Cup of Flour, A Pinch of Death by Valerie Burns, and the Amulet graphic novel series by Kazu Kibuishi. I recommend all of these series! I hope the school year goes smoothly for you! Happy reading in September!

Glad you picked the Joyce and Jim Lavene books. They have a few different series. Unfortunately they both died several years ago.

Your cat really felt like being on camera! Adorable! 😻You picked up a lot of cozies that I haven't read yet. I can't wait to hear what you think of them! I go to my library all of the time. I'm blessed to have a great library too. The most recent library books I read are No Paw To Stand On by Laurie Cass and A Cup of Flour, A Pinch of Death by Valerie Burns. They were both fantastic!

If you're looking for cozies set in North Dakota check out Murder at the Library: A North Dakota Library Mystery by Ellen Jacobson and for South Dakota check out The Happy Camper Mystery series the first book is Open for Murder and the Professor Prather mystery series the first book in this series is An Act of Murder. I loved the Killer Chocolates series but if you're looking for another cozy set in Montana check out Leslie Budewitz's Food Lover's Village series, I don't know if you have a cozy mystery set in Idaho I would like to suggest the Hope Walker mystery series by Daniel Carson, Wisconsin check out the The Pizza Cozy mystery series by Mindy Quigley or the Deputy Doughnuts series by Ginger Bolton both set in WI

I wish I could suggest something in a state you are missing but everything I think of is set in a state you already have! Maybe those other states just aren’t cozy enough!😂

I couldn't get into the series by Alex Erikson also, I'm not sure if maybe because a man is writing a female character?? But I just couldn't connect with the main characters. ✌🏽

What a fun idea to select some of your books based on jobs!! I really enjoyed your video! I hummed and hawed for quite a while before getting KU but I have now had it for about 6 months and it is definitely worth it. I read a lot more cozies than I do thrillers
@catreadsbooks2 ай бұрын
I tend to read cozy mysteries where the sleuths have the same jobs so I should probably seek out different jobs too. Interesting reads. I haven't read any of them but they sound interesting and unique. My favorite reads in May and June were Murder By The Seashore by Samara Yew, Paint Me A Crime by Holly Yew (this one has an Art Curator main character which is an occupation I've never read in a cozy before and I really enjoyed it. Yay, me!), The Lighthouse Library series by Eva Gates (the series gets better and better with each book in my opinion), and Requiem for a Mouse by Miranda James. I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer and all of the books you read! 😎🏖

Happy summer, Colin! And to all the family! Thanks for the recommendations! I’m definitely interested in the bookmobile series and the wedding planner series. I'm 78 and started reading at 3. I'm looking for non-gory, nudity, explicit sex books. Mystery has always been my fav genre. I found cozies a number of years ago but then they became romance between hunky detective and person who inherits a place just as they lost their big city job. So, I am looking for real mysteries but not, necessarily, formulaic. And a talking cat never hurts... I have never cracked a spine on a book in my life and never noticed it until someone mentioned it late last century. So, all my used books look new! I, too, love Ireland and the British Isles mysteries. Nice review. And I didn't know CDs had gone anywhere. Or REAL books! And I love a good cover. Thank you for this vid advertised on the righthand side of another vid I was watching.

I just recently found your channel and I'm enjoying it. I haven't watched all your videos yet (I'm still catching up), but if you haven't read any of the Meg Langslow series by Donna Andrews, I highly recommend it. The first one is Murder by Peacocks. This series is humorous cozy mystery. It's an older series, but I still think of it often. Oh, and it's set in Virginia, if you don't have one from that state yet. I love the idea of mysteries set around the world. Keep the videos coming!

I am so tired of mysteries that feature grizzly murders, gore, children harmed. It is so nice to find cozy mysteries. I have read all of Miss Marple and was looking for new titles. I am so glad I found your channel. Now that I have a new mystery genre to explore you have pointed me in the right direction.

Cozy mysteries definitely have a formula, & all the elements you describe have terms I’ve heard, such as “character dumping,” which you don’t appreciate. But several of your other pet peeves might just be standard elements that are too obvious & formulaic for you, which likely just boils down to the author’s writing ability.

I am excited about reading Death and bloom and A sprinkle of murder. About Elizabeth Spann Craig, I just read 3 books in the serie, not in order, because I am working with her, translating some books, but I can assure Myrtle is adorable! You should take a chance to this serie.

Stay clear of Scumble River then.. the subject matter gets very dark. I call it “edgy” or “gritty” cozies. Denise Swanson just doesn’t have your typical cozy writing style but I personally enjoy her writing.
@cozieswithacupoftea92394 ай бұрын
Ohh, good to know. Thanks. I have read a couple that were sort of on the edge of cozy and a bit darker. Not sure how I feel about that style.

I absolutely love the True Confections by Sara Fox series and I thought much the same as you did for the Dublin Driver cosy series. If you want to read a cosy set in Ireland, I really enjoy the Irish Village mysteries by Carlene O'Connor (I think there are 10 in the series so far). My scare/thriller threshold is pretty much non existent; I am a total woose. I really enjoy your videos xo
