I still get nervous for all my tournaments now.. You made me do the test as well and it was basically spot on, it even recommends me to play the queen's gambit (which was already my most played opening) GothamChess is a great way to get into chess, and learn the basics / some intermediate stuff. Past like 1200 you're better off watching more informational content, like the ones you recommended. My personal favorite for this high-level educational content is definitely Daniel Naroditsky, he makes some great educational content around how to develop your "chess instincts". Good luck on the next tournament, don't worry too much about the one you missed out on ^^

@@ChessLateBloomer I got Machine as my result- which does fit how i play. I never studied as much as i realistically should have, and i’ve always loved the long-term attacks. For the longest time that was honestly my main strategy- i’m not particularly good at creating that final winning attack, but after 30+ moves of pressure and with a good endgame repertoire i manage to hold my own quite well. Your journey is starting to get me back in to chess as well, played a few games earlier today and getting back’s been a lot of fun ^^

just a wild guess here but the difference between moving the knights at 10:47 is that the latter opens up the g pawn to add to the defense, potentially trading into the center.

LIke to support the Knight with a move like g4?

Wait you said trade in the center, do you mean g3 then f4? EDIT: I cover that square too much though
@datboi_gee4 ай бұрын
@@ChessLateBloomer I wouldn't expect f4, rather just support the knight is all. Stockfish is only evaluating them at about half a point difference and still considering the game about even in both scenarios. There could be something else I'm not seeing, but if I were white in that scenario I definitely don't dislike the simple g4 to add a second defense to my forward knight.
@ChessLateBloomer4 ай бұрын

As a response to 25:28: The reason why Stockfish likes giving up that pawn is because with the king moving to F2, it considers it entirely safe. Stockfish is a psycho, and sees that after Nb3, Qc3+, Kf2, Be4, Qe2, you have no entry, and this is effectively a white fortress, even with 2 points down. Any human in this position would be quivering in fear, and it's definitely not a logical move for a human to play.

Depends on your level. If you are a beginner, it could be fun to challenge yourself to beat stronger and stronger AI's with chesscom. In my case, when I decide to add a move to my opening repertoire, I like testing the position vs Stockfish and survive the best I can. I stop when I lost the equivalent of a pawn and evaluate my performance.
