Decent story, but felt rushed. Here is my one raised eyebrow question. Why mention the boys in the beginning and at the very end? I understand the story needs to be within a certain time frame. Or that the basis of the story is his feelings and his revenge. The problem is when you bring children into the story line, I just feel you can't forget them in 99% of the story and expect it to be relevant enough to include them at all. Especially when it involves something as family breaking as am affair. And then something as emotionally devastating as your own mother attempting suicide. 99.99% of boys out there will always have a soft spot for their mothers. Even when she has done wrong. They may be mad as hell for what she did but they will still hold her when she cries. This story has 2 sons. To have both not be mentioned when their mother tried to commit suicide, much less leave her on her own to stay with their dad afterwords seems a bridge too far. Again. I know the story is here to acknowledge the suffering of the husband, his brutal revenge, and the rotten wifes complete downfall. I get it. But the best stories are the ones that provoke emotion. And dry revenge with male children not giving a crap misses the opportunity to create emotion in your listeners. Just giving thoughts here.

The only thing this story taught his children was it ok to allow someone you love to walk all over you and do nothing about it.

Indeed it's not for everyone. Cheating, betrayal, is a dealbreaker for me. I can't trust the person again, no matter how much they may ask for a second chance, apologize, beg for forgiveness...maybe they actually had a change of heart, but I'm not willing to find out.

Sorry, but once an affair happens, betrayal, infidelity, it's over for me. Because no matter how devoted the other party may be, how committed to fixing things...I don't think I'd ever be able to trust them again. There'd always be lingering doubts and distrust. And most of the times, the people who cheated end up cheating again, and again...until you've had enough. Because people don't change easily, it requires a huge effort, as the narrator mentioned, from both sides. But the cheater, specially...often just want the significant other to stick around for the financial or emotional stability. I'd rather move on and either find someone else or focus on myself and my children, if I had them.
