Interesting that my Australian 2008 Sport has a higher redline on the tacho... I'm pretty sure it's exactly the same 92kW engine. In Australia these are always 5-door and known as RS416, but in UK it's a 3-door and it's called ZC31S. My redline is 7100, but this car in the video is 6800. And the Aussie spec (ironically perhaps with our long distances to travel) has a close-ratio gearbox and even 5th sounds 'busy' at 110km/h. And, yep, just paid $1350 a few days ago to have the 130,000km cat replaced and finally turn off the check engine light. It's a lot to pay to turn a light off - and the mechanic says he doesn't replace many cats on anything because people don't want to spend big money on old cars when the fault doesn't really do anything. But I think it made my car feel like a bomb. You say your Swift is slow. You could have back pressure from a clogged cat. They do gradually fill up with gunk and eventually you've got a potato in your exhaust system.

Wrong, VVTi is nothing like VTEC at all, and nothing changes or "kicks in" at a certain RPM, VVTL-i is like VTEC, but VVTi isn't. VVTi doesn't have "lift" like VVTL-i does (e.g 2ZZ-GE engine) all VVTi does is variate the intake valves based on how you're driving the car/adjusts the timing of the valves, if anything it compromises power, it's main purpose is to reduce emmisions, cringe at people comparing VVTi to VTEC. Terrible comparison. This isn't a performance engine or car and neither is VVTi. Otherwise good vid.
