The young man is not a guide but a chef in Hotel Union Geiranger. While on our way back from Trollstigen we befriended him and shared our plan to hike to the waterfall. He was more than happy to join and guide us free of charge. It was a win-win situation as he knew the area really well and gave us interesting info about the same. We started the hike from our cottage which was 2.7 km uphill from Geiranger market. It's a short hike all the way up to the waterfall of max 45 mnts to 1 hour (one way) but since we wanted to enjoy the surroundings so we hiked at a leisurely pace which took us little longer. Also if you are planning to hike in the months of August or September then don't forget to relish the berries in the wild 😀

You are welcome. We would suggest you in order to avoid traffic do not hike on the road but take a shortcut through the camping ground called Vinje (next to the main road after Hotel Union) where you can visit the beautiful Kleivafossen waterfall as well.

Indeed and a must if visiting around Flåm area. As per the safety guidelines a person having any respiratory tract infection, back,neck, heart or lung problems or any other desease that may lead to seizures should avoid it .Also persons weight should be under 140 kg.
