How to remove hardwater etched onto Glass Canopy ?

Hello, I’m attempting to remove a “few” deep vertical scratches in my auto window from grit scratches when powering it up/down. I’m using a drill with 5” backing pad and 320 to 600 to 1000grit to polishing compound. How did you get the swirl marks out (get the pad to be flat and even?)? And, what polish compound did you use? Thank you in advance!

what paste did you use? is there any?

do you have a video or other tips on how to repair damage done to a glass skylight by handyman using the green side of a scotchbrite cleaning sponge? I believe it was the heavy duty one that is yellow and green. TIA :/
