@Mikes_Travels9 күн бұрын
@SilviaKabátová No problem. Ahungalla is in the South West of Sri Lanka and the best time to visit this part is supposed to be December to March/April. We went and my videos were filmed in April. We were there for 10 days. It was overcast for 1 day and we had heavy rain one evening. I guess that you could get unlucky at any time though with the weather. Temperatures were in the 30 degrees most days and the day i visited Colombo, in my Colombo video it was in the very high 30s. If you have any more questions, please ask

We've just come back from this hotel, it was absolutely faultless and as you touch on in the video the staff are excellent. We did speak to Tui regarding a late check out as we weren't being picked up for our flights until 5pm, Tui did speak to the hotel regarding this and they agreed to extend the checkout from the room to 1pm but then also let us have full use of the facilities until we left just before 5pm...all for NO extra charge. Faultless service.

Can you please give me exact directions on what i need to do to get from JFK TO margaritaville as far as train directions? I have never taken the subway, and I stumbled onto your video and it is my first time to NYC with my 12 year old son, and we are also staying at margaritaville! Thank you for the helpful advice and video! How long is the walk from your last stop on the train to Margaritaville? Is it doable with a small carryon luggage in tow?
@Mikes_TravelsАй бұрын
@USveteran83 Thank you for watching At JFK, follow the signs to AirTrain. When here, I took the route to Jamaica station. You pay for the AirTrain when you disembark at Jamaica station, which was about a 10 min journey. It runs 365 days per year. The journey now I believe is $8.50 to Jamaica. Once at Jamaica, you can buy a physical subway card if you want. You also have 2 choices. Either the subway or Long Island railroad. I chose the subway. You can ask what line when you pay for the AirTrain as I dont remember what line, but you want the line that goes to Penn Station. Once at Penn station it was about a 10 min walk along along 7th Avenue to Margaritaville Hotel. I hope that helps and if you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. If the video was helpful, please do give it a thumbs up as that will really help me. I have done a full review of Margaritaville Hotel on this channel that may be helpful and also other videos of things to see and do in New York Thanks again for watching

@Mikes_TravelsАй бұрын
Hi Gary Thanks very much for watching The shops are not overly expensive considering it's in a hotel and the service is excellent. You can easily walk into Ahungalla (about 10 mins). Its only a small town, as you can imagine, but it has a number of little shops. I would seriously recommend Udawalawe National Park safari for the elephants as you get up close and personal with them and isn't one of those places where you bathe them and ride on them. They are in their natural habitat and it's lovely. I've done a video of that if you want to check it out and have also done a day trip video to Colombo which might also be worth watching If the video was helpful and you enjoyed it, please can you help me out by giving it a thumbs up Thanks again for watching and if you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask

I felt very happy to see you walking and filming. Thanks to lord Jesus . It is indeed a fascinating place to explore.I used to love being inside a church when there were no one around so that I could have the lord all to myself. I was overjoyed to see that there wasn't anybody in that church you went in. Almost all of the faces of the kings and Queens were familiar to me because of a collins publication book (the title could be a pageant of history) my brother got as a prize at school. When I see these places I remember one of my favorite childhood authors, Enid blyton's books. The Rubadub mystery and Five go to smuggler's top.were two of my favorite books of her out of many other books. Enjoyed all the locations and scenery of this very interesting ,informative video and gave it a thumbs up . Thanks for the fascinating masterpiece.

They are doing a lot of work locally to restore a lot of the coral and guests can get involved with the local marine biologists in the work if they want, which is good to see
@chrisplayle2901Ай бұрын
@@Mikes_Travels Sorry Mike, I have to strongly disagree. I've been lucky enough to visit and work in the Maldives for a few decades. Believe me, when you say "They are doing a lot of work locally to restore a lot of the coral"........... "and guests can get involved with the local marine biologists in the work" is a very one dimensional view of things. The Hotels/Resorts/Islands whatever you choose to call them, have used the Reefs demise to promote their business. It's now a standard thing to have a 'Marine Biologist' on resort and have Tourists 'Plant Coral'. Some Hotels/Resorts/Islands even charge Tourists to be a part of the Ecology program ($100 a day with a 'Marine Biologist' to plant Coral). It's all about money over there and like many other Island Nations, it never filters down to the Islanders/Natives. The Western Theme/Agenda is "You better go the there before it's underwater" is also a shameful narrative. The investmant from the far east (China) in the last 10 years is mind boggling and on a somewhat smaller scale the US in Hotels/Resorts/Islands tells it's own story.

Hi Mike we're going to this hotel in February and wondered the best way to get pounds changed into rupees for incidental small purchases? Airport or at the hotel? Do tuk tuks only take rupees? Thanks
@Mikes_Travels2 ай бұрын
Hi Thanks for watching. Hope you found the video useful. Please do give it a like if you did as that will really help me. The cheapest, easiest and best way to get rupees was at the atm as you come out of departures at the airport. Remember, though, to not let them do the conversion otherwise you won't get the best rate. You can ask the currency exchange (also as you come out of departures) to swap for smaller notes if that helps, or just buy a snack in the shop to get change. The hotel can also break notes down for you, but they limit the amount. I don't know if you are going by Tui. We did and our transfer was a private car with just me and my wife and it took about 1 hour 20 for the transfer. The tuk tuk's are so cheap that they usually only take cash. I don't know if you saw my Colombo video in the playlist, where I got a tuk tuk from the hotel to the train station. I recommended a guy on that video (and stated his wattsapp number). He was really good and helpful. It's a good day out. A must do also is Udawalawe National Park for the elephants. Again, there is a video of that in the playlist and it really is amazing. The hotel really is lovely and we will be going back. Something we rarely do. Have an amazing time and if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask

Melbourne is how Sanford was 20 yrs ago, just twice as far away from Orlando. It,s ok but I still prefer to fly into Orlando international which it over 12 miles to Downtown Orlando not the 6 you mention. I will be flying into both before next summer so I might change my opinion.
@Mikes_Travels2 ай бұрын
@ovy6136 Thank you for watching and for your comments. Much appreciated. I guess it depends on what you are looking for, eg, more shops and choices to eat etc at Sanford. Sanford is closer as you say, but with Melbourne, you don't have the crowds, the queues and the longer waiting times you do at Sanford. From my experience of both, I'd rather have the quicker in and out. Whilst Sanford is closer, I've found from experience that there is no time saving in travelling to and from Sanford, due to traffic, parking wait times etc. Be interested in your opinion once you've done both Thanks again for watching
@ovy61362 ай бұрын
@Mikes_Travels Sanford and Orlando International are two different airports . UK airlines stopped flying there 2 yrs ago despite only being 40 miles from internatial drive and was a quick drive. Orlando International is about 8 miles from international drive , it's busier but still quicker than from Melbourne where the average drive now is heading towards 2 hrs with traffic unless you hit lucky.
@Mikes_Travels2 ай бұрын
@ovy6136 Sorry I meant Orlando International. I've flown into Florida about 10 times from the UK and most of that over the years has been to Sanford. I've also been in and out of Orlando International and always found Melbourne quicker. Guess I've been lucky. For me it's not necessarily the journey time, it's the hassle free, relaxed environment and hardly any queuing. Thanks for your comments

We've stayed at Caribbean Beach x5, Port Orleans x2 and Beach Club once and loved them all. We chose this one purely to keep our first time back at Disney post covid as cheap as possible. Your video has helped manage my expectations. As regular users of Premier Inn the room looks perfectly adequate for our 10 nights. Thank you!

You are very welcome. Thank you for your kind comments, which I'm sure others will also find useful. Please do give the video a thumbs up like if you don't mind, as it will help the KZbin algorithm to push it to other people who may find it useful. I've also posted videos of Disney Springs and the parks on this channel, which also includes restaurants, snacks and prices that I think you will also find useful As I said on the video, we have stayed previously at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Caribbean Beach resort and I guess the most pronounced thing for me is how you are treated as a guest at the value resorts compared to others. Even down to the fact that you can't get a dairy alternative for your coffee at a value resort if you have an allergy or intolerance, but can at others. Something for example that Disney should change. Having said that, if you are simply using it as a base to visit the parks, taking advantage of the transport, it does a perfectly good job and offers most things you will need. Im sure as a regukar Disney visitor, you will know this but, food and drink is expensive in the hotel and parks and it might be worth getting a cab or if you hire a car, visiting a Wallmart or similar place to stock up for drinks and snacks. The reusable cup for in the hotel is a good value purchase to continually refill hot and cold drinks. You can take these to the parks, but you can't refill them in there. Have a great trip and if you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks again for watching
